Proper psi on a Badger TC910
Posted by Elvis on Sunday, August 16, 2020 10:57 AM

This is my 1st compressor with a tank.

As an example, I am setting my pressure at around 15 psi to do some fine work. Camo pattern on an A/C.

Couple second applies each, and after maybe six passes.....the compressor kicks on.

I don't hear or feel any leaks. This is a new (supposed to be) unit. Teflon on threads, etc.

Is it just me, or is this the norm?

Its possible, sounds like normal operation, some air came out of the tank, you said 6 passes,so now the compressor comes on to make it up

If your operating pressure never dropped out then everything is fine. As mentioned the compressor is just refilling the air you used. It has to do that to maintain your working pressure. AB compressors have small tanks is all but enough to eliminate air pulsing and uneven working pressure...

Sounds okay.  However, if you want to ensure no links, rap all connection threads with teflon pluming tape.

The needle doesn't drop any. If set at 20psi.....it'll go for about 45 secs, then cycle on for less than a minute.

Rinse & repeat

To me.....I would think it wouldn't cycle on so quickly. But my old A/C Comp was an Aztec than ran continuously.

Compressors have a couple of pressure switches... One is set for turning on when tank pressure hits a certain level, the other shuts off the pump when tank is full.  As long as it cycles on and off, it sounds like running normal.  The bigger the tank the less cycling it will do with an AB.
