I don't know if I would describe the finish as being completely "flat" with the TS-5 version of OD. It isn't exactly "gloss", either. The synthetic lacquer levels so well that it gives what my local hardware store refers to as a "satin egg-shell" finish. In the right light, it looks a bit like a semi-gloss because it cures so smoothly.

I see on the chart that there is even a third Olive Green, TS-70, which is used by the JGSDF. But, to get back to the second part of my question, are they flat or gloss? I'm actually looking for gloss for a specific project. (Trying to avoid the extra step of gloss coating flat paint.) Mike

Since they're for military subjects, my guess would be that they're flat paints.  Don't know that for sure though.

I was just reading about this yesterday.  So it seems some Navy planes during WW2 had two different colors for olive drab.  One was used prior to 1943 and the other shade after. So yes, as Eagle mentioned they are different colors.  At least this was the case with The P47 D.  If I'm wrong please someone correct me.  I don't research subjects as much as I should.

They're slightly different colors, with TS-28 being called Olive Drab 2.  There were two Olive Drab colors for US equipment, and I think that's why they have the two slightly different colors.

Here's a Tamiya color chart.

What is the difference between Tamiya TS-5 and TS-28 spray paints? Both are Olive Drab. Is one gloss and one flat?
