                        FYI, Tamiya bottles will screw right into Badger caps.


                        wow! just checked it on my Badger, cool! gotta cut the siphon a little if I ever decided to do it..... Aztek crews into MM, Badger to Tamiya... too bad there isn't a standard... so everything screws into everything...


                        Model master bottles are 28mm i think and if you don't want to spend the cash to buy the micromark adapter lids you can make your own.. here is a little article i wrote on it.. though it needs a little updating..

                        there is also a how to on making a 2.5 cc siphon feed cup from an aztek cup for use with siphon feed airbrushs for those small jobs

                        I think you're right, I think Agfa was the last holdout. Theirs were real thin aluminum, almost like heavy foil, but the Kodak cans were great. No telling what those things would be worth these days.

                        yup... although I never used them when they were still aluminum I remember my mom and dad had them.,.. I didnt get into photgraphy until the mid 80's and by then they were all plastic.. except maybe for AGFA... I remember one of them was metal still...

                        believe $6.95 is worth it.. I might even buy two! while I have mostly been using the metal cups lately being able to unscrew a bottle and put the cap back on would be nice!! especially since I still have a fair share of "pre-thinned" paints available...

                        35mm film canisters are the handiest thing in the world next to duct tape. Funny thing about them is that many, many years ago they were aluminum and had screw-on caps that even had a vinyl water seal in them. I worked in a camera store as a kid and had boxes of them. Wish I had them back now.

                        Though I shoot waterbased acrylic 99% of the time, I do have rare occasion to use lacquers. I have rigged up a bunch of 35mm film canisters as siphon feed paint jars and they seem impervious to lacquers and lacquer thinner. I think the plastic used (polyethylene?) is the same stuff as is used on the "twist-and-pry" caps on cans of lacquer thinner sold at most hardware stores.

                        I had the same problem but with Model Master Enamel paints and thinner.....the plastic jar started to melt and crack....a very nasty experience...now I have 2 beautifully melted and unusable plastic jars…….Grumpy [|(]

                        Also, tamiya 1/3in screws into the aztek big. at least on the a220

                        mike, it was the default jar that came with the kit i bought, to be specific the one with the trigger pad. and I just checked and it was 'enamal based acrylic' so I will avoid using that in the plastic jar from now on.

                        While you are at it, bend the tube a little. I heated mine slightly with a heat gun and bent it so that it aims right at the bottom front edge of the bottle. Since I usually spray at a downward angle, that where all the paint runs. I have about 1mm between the end of the tube and the bottle and can suck up all but a few drops of paint.
