The white was caused by using too much thinner, and/or spraying from too far away, causing some of the spray atomized Dullcote to dry in the air before it got to the model. This usually also has a gritty texture as well as the whiteish color. I don't use Dullcote anymore, switched to Polly Scale Flat, but I have used it extensively in the past. I usually only thinned it about 20%, using lacquer thinner, sprayed at about 20psi from about 3". But that's with my compressor/AB set up, youre set up could vary.
