Help with compressor filter.
Posted by joewhite on Friday, October 22, 2004 12:23 PM
Hi, I purchased the following compressor. Now, I bought the same brand filter for it. It says that it filters out debris and liquids. I was wondering if that filter would be sufficient for airbrushing since I've only heard of water traps being used. It looks like the normal water traps I've seen sold with hobby compressors. Common sense would tell me that it's probably the same thing but I thought I'd ask anyway since it wasn't labled: Water Trap, on the package. Pretty dumb question but I'd rather know before I ruin my ED-209. I've airbrushed a little before but never with a compressor. Thanks!

if it looks the same (plastic tuber with a rounded end with a small release valve at the bottom) then it is the same... I got one at lowes and it was deep into the description before they mentioned moisture trap.... it also is a filter for particulates
---Tom--- O' brave new world, That has such people in it!

I've got that same compressor, I still put a clear see thru water trap on mine in-line.
But so far it hasn't filtered anything so the one on the compressor itself is doing its job.

IT should work just fine. It may not say "Water" on it, but it does say "Liquids". They don't normally call them "Moisture Traps" because they also filter out oil (from compressors that use it) as well as trash and debris. You should be good to go.
