Enamel thinner for acrylic paints?

I found that clear windex works great as a thinner for acrylic paints. It thins just like water, but dries a little faster because of the evaporation properties of the windex glass cleaner. I have not tries any of the coloured glass cleaners, I don't know what the effect it would have on the paint colour.

would i just be able to use water????

i know MM paints are water clean up, and i'm looking at my paintbrush cleanup bowl.....it's about the color i need

I agree regarding model master paints. I sometimes use lacquer thinner with some acrylic tamiya paints but it doesn't work with all colors for some reason. Tamiya paints are the exception in this case. Model master acrylics need an acrylic based reducer, either manufacturer thinner, distilled water, IPA, or a combo of those.

No really, they don't.

Enamels are oil based, acrylic water/alcohol based. Oil and water do not mix.
As tho9900 sugested, try alcohol as a thinner for acrylics.

DoW - no, they definitely will not mix. You can use Isopropol alcohol (the clear stuff from Wal Mart etc... NOT rubbing alcohol) to thin that, or buy an acrylic thinner from Model Master or Tamiya at the local hobby shop or Hobby Lobby etc...

Hi, I don't think it is a wise idea. Usually what I do is to apply a coat or two of Acrylic flat varnish to the part, let it/them dry and then apply a wash of enamel black (matt) at a ratio of 1 part paint to 9 parts of thinner (enamel thinner).
