It is possible, you might want to becareful with the lacquer thinner too. It has a nasty habit of (over long exposure) deteriorating the seals in the airbrush. Some are easy to replace, but one located in the back of the body is factory only replacement.

As long as you get everything back together again and have the seals on tightly, I would think it would take care of it.

From my experience the sputters tend to come from either something caught in the brush, like cotton from a Q-Tip, a dirty brush or a poor seal. The spurts or splatters tend to be created because something blocks the airflow and not enough air is allowed to pass for the syphon affect. Presure then builds and releases send the paint splat and then the process repeats. Make sure all your parts are assembled correctly and tightly, if they are you may want to disassemble the brush and give it a complete cleaning.

How do you clean your brush when you are finished using it after each use?

What type of compressor are you using? Do you have a moisture trap? Incorrect pressure or moisture can cause the problem you are having. Try to lower the pressure and see if the problem goes away. Clean the moisture trap. Experiment with different pressures. Try to eliminate one cause at a time.

Sounds to me like your paint may not be thinned enough. It should be about
the same consistancy as milk. I have a Badger 200 and when it spits paint,
a little more thinner in the mix almost always fixes the problem.
