I am leaving Dec 3rd.  I will spend a night in Tokyo and then head west to Toyama for a week.  Hopefully I can find a shop that sells Iwata.

I have been an airbrush illustrator since the early 80's. I
worked mostly with guaches, but recently revisited model
making and used my HP-C with enamels and found it
good for a variety of applications. You can get as tight as
sewing thread width or use it for large areas. Get a crown
nozzle and a couple extra nibs and needles. I like the large
gravity feed cup has a cap so you're not sloshing paint all
over your work.
Here's a look at the one I'm talking about.

Good luck!

I´m going to Japan next Thursday Nov. 24, and I also want to buy an Iwata. The model I choose was HP C.

Have you got any answer about the place to buy?

In Akihabara (Tokyo) there aresome hobby shops. I hope they carry this item.

When I come back I tell you what I have found.

Well, chap, I suppose you expect to find Iwata airbrushes at lower price there; if such is the case, I suggest you also buy an extra nozzle, two extra needles and a set of washers ( if you wnat to use several gauges on your airbrush, I suggest an extra nozzle and two extra nozzles per gauge, well, look at your budget anyway )

Mike, "leave them kids alone", don't try to badgerize him if he wants an Iwata, he'll have time in his life to get a Badger too

Thank you all for coming José

Iwata? Is that a new car? lol

Nope. Smile [:)] Won't make any difference. I own 2 Iwata's and they both spray every medium I have tried in them.

I own a HP-BS and love it!

It does some great detail spraying with acrylics and the .35 tip, and the trigger is so smooth, the atomiztion is fantastic.

I also got the pre set handle with mine, and a set of quick connects and the crown cap.

Definately worth every cent

The HP-CR is a good all around as well as detail brush and sprays acrylics well.  It is even modestly priced! It has one needle/nozzle combo so no need for extra parts.

The HP-CS is good at medium to fine work and also does well although I know at least one person who ended up buying an HP-CR for acrylics and using the CS for everything else.  The HP-CS has a .35mm nozzle/needle combo but now you can buy the .5mm needle and nozzle, it came out recently I understand.  So I guess the issue of acrylics would become moot if you chose that one with the extra gear.

I own the HP-CR and love it, fantastic brush and can do some outstanding fine work, even at my limited level of experience with it right now.

It is perfect for anything 1/48 aircraft or even 1/32.

Good luck!

I will be heading to Japan soon and I was thinking about buying an Iwata.  My question is which one?  I have an Aztek I use for basic stuff, so I am looking for a brush that will allow me to do finer detail work, and ideally I would like to be able to change some parts and use it for medium covearge too if possible.  Any thoughts?  Also, anyone know of a good place in Japan to shop near Tokyo?
