When dealing with Aztek airbrushes, it kind of depends on which airbrush you have.  So, which Aztek airbrush do you have?  Here are some genearlly guidelines when airbrushing fine lines:

Method 1:

Thick paint (viscosity - high)

High pressure (30 psi and up)

This allows you to paint fine lines when the needle is partially retracted into the airbrush.

Method 2:

Thin paint (viscosity - low)

Low pressure (10 - 15 psi)

This combination produces fine lines with the needle fully retracted into the airbrush.

This information comes from Testors website : http://www.testors.com/hobbyist_guides.asp  Click on Chapter 6 and scroll down to the heading Perfecting the Balance of Fine Lines.

I  use two Aztek airbrushes, the A470 and the A320.  Let me know if you have any other problems.

Well, if you are new to airbrushing (like meBlush [:I]) it takes practice. practice. practiceSmile [:)] I am unfamiliar with your A/B but, you'll need to find some scrap plastic & and go to town on it adjusting your air pressure, paint/thinner ratio & such. others will know more & will be able to answer more thoroughly.

New Testors/Aztec airbrush-need help!
Posted by Irish3335 on Wednesday, April 19, 2006 10:51 PM

Hi all,

first of all, just wanted to thank everyone who takes the time to respond to all my posts and questions.  Ok, to the bulk of my question: I just purchased an Aztec/Testors air compressor, with the shut off switch, compression adjustment, etc...really nice small compact compressor that is awesome.  Question is, how do I work at doing the tight, controlled lines such as small lines, detail lines, feather spraying for camo, (such as on an F-4) or lines on a tank (such as a German Panther or Tiger).  Any help is greatly appreciated!

Thanks again
