Posted by Dubau on Friday, May 19, 2006 9:04 PM

I am going to get an airbrush this month " About time I know" BUT !  hehehhehe y'll said the Iwata HP-CR, or the Omni 4000 are good and cheep A/Bs. If I am going to get 1 I would like to get 1 that can do large areas and fine details. Would eather of these be ok or should I try for something esle. under 200.00  hehehehe Shhhhhhh I did not say that if my wife reads this :):)

Thanks again all

Either of those brushes are very good. About the same money too. DO check out Dixie Art! They carry both and will deliver them to your door for under $70. Check out their selection of compressors, they carry a handful of Paasche for $120 +/-, again delivered. Toss in an airhose and regulator and you'll be set for just a tad over your $200 budget.

So long folks!

I don't own the Omni 4000 but have heard nothing but good things about it.  I do own the HP-CR and love it.  It does large coverage (like in 1/35th armor) well, but can do some good fine detail work... for $200.00 you can get a lot higher costing brush but I think either of the two you mentioned should do you just fine!!!

Get the Omni 4000 it is my favorite airbrush all around.
Which Paasche compressor are you looking at?
How much do you want to spend on a compressor?
The silent ones from Badger and Silentaire, etc. are the way to go but they are expensive.
They will however last you a lifetime.

OK the Omni 4000 it will be. But as for the compressor's, I have no idea what I am looking for. I never had one before. Here is a link of 3 I found, what do y'll think.

Unless you have another one in mind. As I said I never had one before and I have no idea what to get. I am willing to spend no more the 200.00. So please let me know a good one for models.

Bud,

For that price range I would say the best one from Dixie Art would be the Silentaire Scorpion II:

http://www.dixieart.com/Silentaire_Scorpion_Compressors.html

The Sparmax TC2000 would also be a good bet:

http://www.dixieart.com/TC2000.html

Both of these come with water trap/ regulator you mentioned.

Just another suggestion...

IWATA REVOLUTION-CR Airbrush with Mini Compressor Kit - $239.98

I have a similar compressor from them, well the same except it has an air storage tank. My wife has been using it in the house since Christmas and we love it so far, quite and powerful.

I ordered Kit # ABD KIT-4211-T with an Iwata Eclipse BCS. Love the Iwata, planning on getting an Iwata HP-CS or an HP-C Plus soon.

Sorry for adding to the confussion!   Smile [:)]

So out of the 2 you linked to me,  what is the diff between them. What will I get with 1 that I would not get with the other ? And between them 2, I am going to need any other parts besides the Airbrush ?

http://www.dixieart.com/TC2000.html

And the Scorpion II

Thanks again

Bud

P.S. My wife wanted me to add this part............ Do eather of them make a LOT of Noise ???????????????

Both of them are good and come with similar specs.
I have not used either so I can't really help you with that part, sorry.
I do know that they are both popular sellers and Silentaire is probably the most popular airbrush compressor in the world along with Jun-Air.
Both of the ones mentioned include a regulator/moisture trap and all you would need would be an airhose for your airbrush, although the Sparmax one comes with one already with connectors for all the different airbrushes.
Any Badger or Thayer & Chandler airhose fits that Omni.
In regards to noise, most of the compressors like this are about as loud as a refrigerator, which is pretty quiet. According to Airbrush Action Magazines compressor buyer's guide the Scorpion II is 30 dB which is very quiet. I am not sure how loud the TC2000 is and you would have to call Dixie Art and ask them.
Hope this helps.
