MikeV's more right. It gets sold as Iwata Superlube, Medea Superlube and Iwata-Medea Superlube. Fact is when arrives it does so in a package clearly marked Medea Superlube! I know, I have one. Smile,Wink, & Grin [swg]

Badger Regdab does the same thing and is CHEAPER!

So long folks!

Bgrigg, I looked at me LHS for Badger Regdab or Iwata SuperLube and he don't have it and I looked on line. Just can't seem to find it, you have any ideas where I could get it ? And I emailed Dixy and they are out.

Thanks

Bud

It's Medea Super Lube not Iwata.
Iwata is an airbrush company and Medea is it's distributor.

I knew that. Uh-huh, really I did! We do need to let Dixie Art know though, they call it Iwata Superlube too!

Great Models item BG122 Regdab $3.9 + S&H

Bear Air item 11065 Regdab $4.41 + S&H

Both claim in stock, but the shipping is more than the item! Unless you want to buy some kits at GM you should ask your LHS to order it (Badger Regdab #122 & Iwata SuperLube I think it's #15001). You could also try Hobby Lobby or Michaels. Since you only use a tiny bit each time, the cost is fairly modest based on the lifespan of the product, I just have issues with spending more on shipping than I do on the product.

You could try just using glycerin which you should be able to get at any drug store. You might have to ask for it. What you want is a lube that isn't oil based and that doesn't easily mix with water.

Bud - which brand of acrylics are you using?  If it is MM or Tamiya then Tamiya Acrylic thinner, MM Acryl thinner or 99% Isopropyl alcohol would be the right thinner, distilled water alone might not work as well.  With the Vallejo and offshoots (Andrea, Aircraft Colors etc.) distilled water or the Vallejo brand thinner would work well.

www.greatmodels.com has the Regdab, do a search on their page and put in BG122 to bring it up.  It's only about $4 so you might as well get some other stuff to offset the shipping Wink [;)]

And you're still alive?

I'm going to refer you to MusicCity's Website for the thinning, pressure and cleaning tips. Just scroll down to the bottom and don't forget to bookmark it! Don't forget to ooh and aah over his models first! He has tons of great advice and links to more great advice.

The stuff you're talking about is Badger Regdab or Iwata SuperLube, which is a special lube for lubrication and to help prevent "tip dry" when using acrylics. You might be able to find it at the LHS, but you should have ordered it at the same time as the AB! I've heard that some people use simple glycerin which should be available at the local drug store. A lot of people don't use it at all! I do, makes me feel like I'm performing preventative maintenance.

Just be patient and practice on empty milk jugs before you "attack" a model. I went so far at to buy a cheap kit as a test bed.

Compressor's, A/B's, and Cleaning and Other Things
Posted by Dubau on Sunday, June 18, 2006 10:42 AM

Hi all. I would like to thank all of you for the help with what I am doing now. But I have 1 last thing to ask " I don't want to mess up with this " .

OK I got my Omni 4000 and I am getting ready to use it for the 1st time.

1. I was told that I can use Distilled Water or Tamiya Acrylec Thinner to thin the paint out. How much should I add to the paint to thin it out ?

2. I am going to be using Windex to clean out the A/B. So I just pour out the paint that was left over and add Windex and turn the PSI up and spray, right ? Do I just spray into the spray booth or get that spray thing you just spray into " Like a little contaner " ?

3. I heard something, someone said about using some kind of oil or gress or something you dap on the tip of the A/B to keep it clean when you are using it. What was that ?

4. How much PSIs should I be using on the Compressor to paint ? And I know to turn it up when uing Windex to clean it. I have a Scorpion II Compressor.

Thanks again all

Bud
