I've owned a VL in the past and it is a good airbrush indeed. Some observations I made when using it, was that it seemed to perform better when spayed at higher air pressure settings, unlike Badger, or Iwata brushes. I was able to get fine lines for my 1/72nd scale models with the fine needle and the compressor adjusted at approx. 30 psi. General spraying was accomplished at between 15-20 psi. The VL sprays very nice layers of paint, so general airbrushing, and clear-coating is excellent. Cleaning the VL is simple as well. Detatch the 1/4 oz. color cup, clean out the siphon tube and spray thinner in-between colors to keep it clean during a session. A complete break-down for a thourough cleaning only took me 5 minutes when I was done for the evening. The VL is a robust, durable design so it should serve you for decades with trouble-free performance. Parts are very inexpensive and are available at most hobby shops and web stores. Have fun and let the good times resume!
