Hello, chap
As for the compressor, I think that apart from big industrial beasts,
all the compressors we are supposed to use in this matter are equipped,
or be able to be, with a 1/8 (or 1/4) inch exit; in fact, you
don't need to
change your hose if you like it , the only difference is in the
airbrush end which is suited to the very airbrush; so Mr
Lermytte
will send you an adapter from your hose to the quick connect of
the
airbrush (which is in NW 2.7 gauge, by the way ) If you want to go
further, you can equip your compressor with a quick connect and
the the airhose will have the matching male connector ( here
the gauge is NW 5.0 ) but do this only if you
consider several airbrushes of several brands. This can be done
afterwards.
As for the FPC, I told you that it worked like the
Iwata MAC air valve; if you want an analogy, it will work like
the microtuners that you can find on the saddle of some electric
guitars ( the same sometimes on one string on violins) it helps fine
tune the string; the FPC fine tunes the pressure: it won't really
affect the pressure gauge on your compressor, only the pressure loss
when you push the trigger, it is more a question of feeling but :
_ yes, you can live without it
_yes, I find it as a bonus
_yes, I am very happy of having bought them to retrofit my Evolutions ( both the .15 and the .40 )
_ Last point, while we are building the "top fuel" airbrush, you could
consider the old model of needle travel limiter which is sold as a
spare part: the Silverline, be it FPC or not, is equipped with a needle
travel limiter, which is a mechanism you use to limit the opening of
the flow by avoiding the needle to fully disengage backwards, so you
can go from zero to what you preset and you change this preset by
screwing/unscrewing the tail button. You can find this on Badger,
Iwata, Aztek, Efbe, etc... (I speak only of what I know)
BUT the old system has one plus; you can switch on/off the preset by
pulling a ring around the button so the airbrush switches from preset
to full range in a snap ( and reverse by pushing the button ) without
having to change your preset . H&S is the only brand I know which
proposes this option.
I use one on my .15 Evolution , not on my .40
Okay, while I speak to you of all those options , I begin to think that
the final bill could be high, but it is like a PC computer, you can
upgrade afterwards when you assault old ladies who get out of their
bank, as the expense is not so high ( some Iwata nozzles hurt you in
the purse when you must change them )
I hope I replied to your questions. You know where to find me anyway.
