They also make liquid mask for specifically this purpose, just make sure you use several coats.

I`m having problems with the front and rear windshield on a 1/35 scale Russian URAL heavy truck made my ICM- problem is that when trimming the masking tape after putting it on the clear part, the plastic is so soft, and the parts fit so poor, that the knife blade won`t follow the window outline, it makes its on path where ever it wants to go. I had to cement the windshields in place due to the design of the kit and then mask the clear sections so I could fill in the huge gaps and have my filler covered by my airbrushed finish coat, just the problem with the masking is holding me up. The tip on using white glue sounds interesting, I think that`s what I`m going to try. I had thought that in `The Complete Future` it mentioned using Future as a masking material, I reread that several times and it in fact doesn`t mention that, I can`t think where I heard or read of that tip- either my source was mistaken or I`m not remembering correctly ( the memory thing is entirely possible- middle age and everything you know :) )

I've used Bare Metal foil and it works great, but every now and then I run into a small or odd shaped spot that won't wask easily. I use a toothpick and apply several coats of white glue. Once the paint is on and dry, I just use the end of a toothpick to pry it off. Works great!

DCV, what kind of masking tape are you using?  Tamiya's Yellow tape, athough a bit pricey, is extremely thin, can conform to compound curved surfaces,  and cuts extremely well.

definitely not. I use Future to clear coat my canopies and its an absolute bear (soak in ammonia) to get off when dry.

I also use it as a PE adhesive and decal adhesive.  Better sticking than un-sticking properties.

Try Masking Sol NEO or Winsor and newton art mask.....

I don't think you can. dried Future comes off only when it is soaked in wet Future, and it MIGHT work, but I wouldn't rely on it.

DCV-I could be wrong, but I can't see Future being used as a masking agent.  As far as the fit on the clear parts, you might try some white glue (Elmer's) or check with a hobby & craft shop for a thicker version of Elmer's.  As far as masking issues, check out Swanny's website under Tools & Tips.  Also there is some good info regarding & using Future.

Using Future as mask on clear plastic?

Has anyone used Future as a mask on clear plastic parts? I have a project with very poor fit on some clear parts and can`t get a very good mask out of masking tape. Seems I recall hearing Future used for this but I`m not positive.
