Tinting canopies w/Tamiya Clear Yellow

Tamiya DO make both acrylic and enamel paints with the same paint numbers. The acrylics come in round bottles and the enamels in square bottles reminiscent of the old Testors bottles. However, the enamels aren't available in all countries, and as far as I am aware, are unavailable in the US.

I only have one theory as to why it's not working and I don't know how valid it is.  It sounds like the clear yellow is an enamel, which would explain why it dosen't mix with future, which is an acrylic.

Actually, as a fact, I tried this last night to, albeit
with a scrap piece of clear plastic.

The results were not good.  First, the yellow did not
dissolve into the Future.  Instead, it clumped together
and left yellow bumps all over the part.  I guessed that
the two products were not chemically mixable, so I set
the stuff aside and did some other work.  Then, when
I went to pour the mixture out (an hour later), I noticed
that the Future had turned a strong yellow, so I thought
I would try again.  However, after dipping a scrap piece
into the yellowized future, I didn't see any of the tint
show up on the part at all.

Mix the yellow into the future before you spray.  You'll get much better results. Just add a drop of yellow and stir thouroughly.  Add more yellow to darken until you get the color you desire.  Once you're happy, you can either spray the future or dip the canopy.  Either way will work.
