Ok, I'll come clean now, I didn't use the primer on my first test.

I used Krylon gloss black this time and it seems fine. Didn't rub off.

thanks guys...

Alclad2 Chrome, Stainless and Polished Aluminum require a base coat of glossy black of some sort.  This link should help: http://www.alclad2.com/alclad-home.html

Matt, what did yiu use as an undercoat?  If you are using the Alclad gloss black, i have heard striores of it taking weeks to dry.  Maybe that had not cured completely. The grear thing about Alclad is how fast it dries.  I mask it after 15 minutes of putting it down.

The only reason to seal is if you are going to do some weathering, say try to darken some panel lines.  In that case you can use future, but you apply decals directly over it.   I just did my first plane with it last week, I did'nt have an problems with it rubbing off.  So I would got back to what primer you used.

Interesting, I've never had an issue with it coming off.  Did you use a lacquer primer and give the alclad 48 hours to fully cure?

Most top coats will cause the alclad to lose some of it's luster, just as a heads up.

I tried a search on Alclad but didn't find much. I've seen some great finishes with and want to use it on a P51.

I test sprayed some spare parts (polished Alum) and I find that it rubs off..? its not a buffing paint right?

The bottle instructions say sealer not recommended, has anyone tried future??
