Also, at this time, the best buy for a basic single-action, open-mixing air brush that has a nice propellent can adaptor is the Harbor Freight Tools model that lists for $10.00 but is now going for $3.99:
Although I have double-action, internal mixing air brushes as well, I still have three of these (I just swap for a fresh one if the one I am using gets clogged), and for most of the average modeller's airbrushing, it is more then adequate.
I find that the cheap Testors model ( ) that they sell at Wal-Mart tends to spray all over the place, wasting a lot of paint, and in fact is not really better then an off-the-shelf spray can, although it is advertised to be better then the aerosol can.
Also, their spray-can adaptor does not have the adjustment valve that the Central Pneumatics/Harbor Tool model comes with.
