Also this takes care of the acrylics vs. enamels question, as with Testors MM paints you can use either or both on the same subject with no discompatibility or chemical reaction concerns.

I've always heard the Tamiya's XF-60 Dark Yellow is supposed to be quite close to what the Germans generally used.

As long as you allow proper curing, you can use enamels over acrylics and vice versa.  In fact, when you're applying washes or brush painting, it is often advantageous to use the opposite of what is underneath so what you are painting/washing with won't dissolve the under coat.

Tamiya Acrylic Question about german yellow.
Posted by Anonymous on Friday, June 29, 2007 5:13 AM

What Tamiya acrylic colours should I be using if I want to represent German yellow, I know there are a few shades, i'm looking for a yellow that would of been seen on a MArder 3 H around 1944 in Italy.

Also whats the rule thumb... yes to:

Enamels over Acrylics or Acrylics over enambels

THanks for help.
