Oil cannot mix with acrylic; it's oil, and acrylic is "water"-based. The two don't mix. You can try using linseed oil to thin the oils, but try it on a piece of scrap or an old model first, The bad thing is that linseed oil will take forever to dry--possibly a few days?

Hey guys, when u are doing the detailing of aircraft panel outline. Is it possible to use oil base wash instead of thinner? Cost my coating is not strong and thinner will do bad for it. If oil can do the trick, what kind of oil is possible, that can mix with acrylic?
