Chris,

To clean acrylics out of the airbrush use this mixture:

2 parts distilled water
1 part Simple Green
1 part Windex

It works great and is cheap to make. Wink [;)]

Just one more thing Chris. Use Isoprophyl alcohol with the highest concentration possible 90% up.

For cleaning brushes, soap and water would be fine as long as the paint has not hardened. Otherwise, use alcohol.

For really hardened paint, enamel thinner or lacquer thinner will to the trick but this will rarely happen as long as you keep washing your brushes as soon as you finish working.

Good Luck.

Thanks Tim thats just what I was needing.I thought alcohol had something to do with it but was'nt sure of the exacts. At least it's something cheap and readily found. Allready encountered a few things I had to wait till I made a trip to gainsville or marrieta to get. Thanks again.

hey Lizard, I use nothing but acrylics. I use both Tamiya and Model Master. I thin them using Isoppropyl Rubbing Alcohol. You have to work with the mixtures though, it sometimes varries with different colors. I get mine at Wal Mart for $.98 for 32 oz bottle.I clean my a/b , using water mixed with dish soap. For cleaning brushes I also use the alcohol. Just a tip though, if you try and cleanup a mistake , i.e a spot of paint on another color, dont use the alcohol to clean it up. It leaves the paint frosty, kind like what c/a glue does. Just use sopa and water.
One more tip, when sealing, dont use any of the laquer sealers, they will eat up the acrylics.I use an acrylic sealer found at craft stores, but Ive had a few disasters with that as well, only because I didnt wait at least a day for the paint to cure. I just bought Model Masters acrylic dull coat, but I havent tried it yet. Feel free to email me if you have anymore questions. , tim

I just broke down and picked up my first bottles of acrylics but have a few questions. First what is the best method of cleaning brushes after use? Also I keep seeing people say how they have no fumes but I have some tamiya's that are very strong , I have never had a problem with enamels having fumes that bad. Also what is the best way to thi them for airbrushing. Thanks.
