Windex, I use 1:1 for a bolder, darker wash and more Windex + less paint for a more diluted one. I don't use the sludge wash technique either.

BUT if your base coat is acrylic, the Windex will dissolve it. Otherwise, if your wash is going over an enamel base coat, no problem.

That's the only problem. In that case, with acryls for a base coat, I use 90% alcohol instead of Windex, and since it evaporates faster, it won't attack the paint like Windex does.  Just very gently brush the wash on, make sure the paint has cured for at least a day, and it works for me.

I only use Tamiya paints so my base coat is acrylic. What should I use if Windex will disolve the base coat?

Simple Wash using Tamiya Paints?

I am looking for a simple way to create a wash using Tamiya paints. I have read a lot about "Sludge Wash" but this technique does not interest me (I don't want to airbrush Future on my scale model). What I'd like to know is what is recommended to dilute the paint and at what ratio?
