I have three Badgers (100LG, 150 & 200-20). Wait, I have FOUR Badgers (2 100LG, 150 and 200-20) and the Omni 4000. I found the Omni different than the Badgers. I'm sure it's just that I'm used to the weight and feel of the Badgers, and that the Omni is a wonderful brush.

One thing I DON'T like about the Omni is that the clip behind the trigger can fall into the body. The 100LG/150 has a "T" on the top that prevents this.

Not a huge issue. I bought the extra 100LG and the Omni at the Garage scale, so paid less than a decent kit costs these days. I was going to keep the "new" 100LG for parts, but ended up putting the fine needle and tip on it.

So long folks!

Same here.  I played with the tension, but it's not as silky smooth as my eight other Badger double actions.  Just my experience with the T&C thus far.

Thanks Mike.  I played around with that and for whatever reason (again, probably user error) I just didn't get comfortable with it.  I'm sure that the Omni is a great airbrush-it comes too highly regarded in the forums to not be.  However, the opportunity came up to get the 100LG at a good price (Badger Garage Sale) so I gave it a shot.  And the 100LG just seems to be a better fit for me.  I'll pull it out of mothballs (along with the Pasche H) one of these days and play with it, but for now, I'll be using the Badger.

You can adjust the trigger tension.

Thanks Frank.  So far, the Medium needle/tip have worked fine but I've got an armor project that I would really like to free-hand the camo on and I think the Fine tip might be a better app.  I'm still learning the fine art of getting the right paint/thinner/air pressure ratios, which is the key no matter what size needle/tip.

Bob,

FWIW, I use my 100LG with fine tip/needle for all of my spraying except NMF and clear coats.  I love my 100LG! Big Smile [:D]

If you get the complete head assembly ( part # 50-0161 ), then you'll only need the fine needle to go with it.  If you get the tip and head assemble only, then yes, you'll need to get the regulator also.  It is cheaper and simpler to get the complete head assembly if you can.  Just curious, what was it about the Omni that you didn't like?  I'm thinking trigger pull.

E-thanks for the heads up on the item number for the complete asm.

Can't really say for sure (aside from my lack of skill).  The Badger just feels better.  I never really felt comfortable with the Omni. I know that probably doesn't make sense....and it may just be a mental thing.

Why would you mention trigger pull? Confused [%-)]

Thanks Rick.  I might just use the coupon for a spare Medium needle & head.

I have the Badger 100LG with both the fine & medium heads, but I rarely use the fine.  The medium handles most of what I do & maybe I'm just to lazy to switch the parts Smile [:)].

Badger 100LG question
Posted by bobbaily on Wednesday, March 5, 2008 11:11 AM

Hey all.  Just got my 100LG from the Badger garage sale and I'm tickled with it.  I just could'nt get comfortable with the Omni 4000 for some reason.

Anyway, I ordered the Medium head/tip and that will be good for 99% of my needs.  However, I have a Michael's 40% off coupon in my pocket and was thinking about picking up the Fine needle & head/tip assy.  However, to I need to also change out the spray regulator from Medium to Fine (part number 0371).

Thanks

Bob
