Well my take is if you can brush paint enamels you can certainly airbrush acrylics in the same space. One can use a shopvac as their particle/dust/vapor collector for work in a small area. I've done that before, purchased an extra hose to plug on the exhaust side of the shopvac and stuck it so it would blow out the window. With acrylics you should have minimal vapor issues.
Now if you just can't facilitate an airbrushing setup, there are pros and cons to painting with either...just invest in good brushes, not cheap ones. Take care of them and they'll do well by you...also try various paints to see what works best for you.
I like Tamiya acrylics and Testors enamels. I airbrush and brush paint with both.
