Decals for a 1/32 Corsair
Posted by Svengoolie on Monday, February 23, 2009 11:22 AM

Does anyone know where I may be able to find some decals for a 1/32 Corsair.

I pulled a 25 yr old Revell kit out of the mothballs and the decal sheet appears to be a bit yellowed.  I suppose I could try them but thought I would have better success with a newer set.

I checked the Squadron site and a Eagle Strike and Aeromaster sites to no avail.  Eagle Stike appears to have a sheet in their catalog but it is not available for purchase.

Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Eagle Cals lists these from VF-17 on their website.  I have used theeir decals in the past, and really enjoyed using them.  HTH! Thumbs Up [tup]

Take a look at CAM decals also. I know there are not many 32nd scale decal lines left, but with Trumpeter's kits on the market, I am pretty sure there are some sheets out there. If you want to try to remove the yellowing, put the kit decal sheet in a zip lock bag, seal it, then tape it to a window pane that gets LOTS of direct sunlight. Within a week or so, you will have the yellowing bleached out by the sunlight.

also you may want to check this website to see what is out there for 32nd scale F4Us.

Thanks for the suggestions.  My modeling is much simpler when I stick with my normal 1/48 scale.

The family friend who got me into modelling as a kid bought me the kit about 25 yrs ago and I never got around to making it.  I got back into modeling 2 yrs ago after a 25-yr absence and I discovered the kit in my old stuff.  The family friend just passed away last year and as a tribute to him I thought I should now build the kit since I have had 2 yrs to brush up on my skills and at least do a credible job on the plane.

It's amazing how kits have evolved during my absence.

If you need to, you can go with other Navy birds decals in 1/32 scale as long as the markings are generic US markings and Navy numbers... Pretty sure there's some sheets for Hellcats and Wildcats out there as well...
