Very old decals, breaking up help please !

I'm making a 1/72 Avro Lancastrian ! the kit is the old Matchbox lanc with a aftermarket resin nose and tail set.

I have had great success using Krylon brand acrylic clear in the spray paint style can. 

I have also used Micro Scale Liquid Decal Film and that worked well too. 

I give the decal two light coats, and then trim as close to the design as possible.  Worked well for me!  HTH.
