Custom decals
Posted by Slick rick on Thursday, July 9, 2009 4:46 PM

Having failed miserably with the "kits" out there for making my own decals, I began the search for a professional concern that would be able to replicate a tail flash and other markings.

To say the market is not flush with custom decal companies is an understatement.  Having approached two likely "vendors", I found that the charges for "set up", "art work" and "minimum order" exceeded the cost of the model I was building , which topped $100 itself.  It sat there, collecting dust, unfinished.

While perusing another one of my hobby's forums, I ran across a webpage that produces and sells stickers and decals for military helmets.   Lo and behold, he offered CUSTOM decals and dry transfers.  After a couple of emails and sent pics, I got exactly what I had been looking for for a tenth of previously quoted prices.  Super nice guy, doing it on his own, very quick service and I am completely satisfied.

So, for those looking for reasonably  priced custom decals, here he is:

Thanks Rick.  That's "Slick", pun intended.  I'll check him out for my needs.  Do you have pics of your completed model?

Sign - Ditto [#ditto] I would also like to see some pics of your decals.  I have checked into other sources for custom decals, and have not found what I am looking for yet.  Hopefully, this fellow can get me the markings I need!

Sorry I took so long to reply here.  Anyway, model is not finished.  A C130J (Italeri) 1/48 to be finished in the Hurricane Hunters livery.  Tail flash was the trickiest part.  Very satisfied with the decals sent to me.  Here's a pic of what he crafted from pics I sent of the real thing.

Wow outstanding work.  Any idea if he would do custom police decals?  I'm looking to make a car for myself and our soon to retire chief?

As far as I know, he can replicate any design.  Just send him a good digital pic.

Hey Rick, the link appears to be broken, do have any other contact info on this guy?

The lettering is wrong, current U. S. Air Force lettering is based on Amarillo Font Click Here!

I make my own decals with an Alps and a inkjet printer and have done a lot of research on the subject.

If you look the coners of the lettering you have should be 45 degrees.
