Crap with a capital C.....I'm still pissed about this.  A "bad set" seems to be common practice for this company.  I was curious Bob, did you ever get a response from the company about their quality control issues?

Sorry to hear that.  I just used Techmod decals on my Monogram 1/48 TBD-1 with no issues.  They responded well to micro-set/sol.  They even included canopy and painting masks.  Oh well, there are winners and losers w/ every manufacturer.

i sure am glad i read this because last night i began putting 1/48 scale Techmod decals on a Mirage Hobby PZL P.37A i had finished  building after spending a lot of time researching this bombers correct coloring, interior and exterior. You got farther than i did.. After soaking them in warm water until they had become lose, the darn decals began to split into several pieces. I thought it was maybe a bad set, so i happened to have purchased the same decal kit earlier, opened the pack and--you guested it. the same thing. These are so thin, you cannot work with them. i emailed the company i have purchased from and explained what had happened. i will let you know the outcome. DEFINITELY .......stay away from this crap !!! thanks, Bob

"Techmod Trap"...issues with Techmod decals

Hello all,

I'm new to this forum and have been modeling for well over 10 years, primarily WW2 aircraft in 1/48 scale.  I just wanted to offer a caveat to aircraft modelers regarding the "Techmod Trap", as I've come to call it.  I believe they are the modeling community's version of a computer virus.  They suck you in with cheap prices and interesting subject matter then you gleefully use them only to watch helplessly as they destroy your model, for which you worked so hard on.   I'm currently building, or should i say "was" building a 1/48 Hasegawa Spit Mark IX which was going to don Techmod polish markings (the pilot's name escapes me).  I put the Camo scheme down then sealed it with Furture.  After about three days of curing,  I eagerly began my usual decal routine.  The roundels laughed at Micro Sol.  They did nothing.  I then used the stronger Solve-A- set.,...still nothing.  I then drenched them and walked away for a while.  I came back to see the edges of the decal peeling up.  Strangely though, the fuselage codes "SZ-G" were so thin that when I tried to position them, they wrinkled up and would not budge...I then commenced to try and remove all the decals only to discover parts of them had stuck and ripped the paint off.....I was beyond angry by this point and the Spit was remanded back to its box.

I will stick with Aeromaster/Eagle Strike, Superscale, and Sky from now on.  I've never had a problem with any of these.  I just wanted to put this out there so other models can avoid this same frustration.  On the other hand, to be fair, has anyone ever had success in using these?  I suppose its possible I just got a bad sheet, however, everything I've read so far has been similar to my experience.

Regards...Joe
