Decals rolling!
Posted by st_gorder on Thursday, December 16, 2004 10:07 PM
Help anyone;
Got a Tamiya F2A-2 Buffalo and am trying to apply the white stars on blue discs. Actually the kit decals are a white disc decal then put the Blue and red decal over the top of the white one. The white part went down good a couple days ago. The problem is that the 2nd decal is rolling up on itself. I'm using the two part Micro-sol solutions. Will the decals flatten themselves out? I'm not too optimistic.
Thanks;

I always get a bit nervy when this happens. My usual reaction is to take the decal off and put back in the water to clean off the Micro-sol and clean it off the model, then put the decal back on the model and reapply the sol very sparingly.

I have had decals that have rolled themselves into a ball that I have resurrected. Takes a long time and patience. If its really bad I'll get it straightened out in the water dish, slide the old backing paper back under it so I can lift it out without any curling and re-place on the model. I'll use a tissue or something really absorbent to remove any water then apply heat (hair drier) rather than the Micro-sol.

How has it gone since you asked the question?

Mark;
I went back to it with a wet brush and got them to sit down pretty well. Thanks for the reply.

Roden 1/48 installing lozenge decals. Help!
Posted by Anonymous on Wednesday, January 5, 2005 12:51 PM
How do I apply the decal? cover the whole wing at one time? and then trim the overhang.
What do they mean about Rib Strips (where's the B.B.Q. lol). I reall y want to apply the lozege decals, looks like it would make a neat model. Roden doesn't really give a lot of info with their kits.

Any tips would be appreciated!
