I'm sure that I've got a complete set of these decals in my collection somewhere.  If you want still want them let me know and I'll send them when I find them.

Yo, Daywalker:

I have a partial sheet from the old P-39 kit that includes the sharkmouth, rooster door emblem, Brit serial, "Hell's Bells" lettering, U.S. Army and the tail number. No stars.  The sheet is, I believe, from one of the earliest releases of the kit, so you'll probably have to use decal restorer or scan it on your computer onto a blank decal sheet, whatever.

Anyway, I've just had it sitting around for years, so I can just send it to you. Can't think of anything for trade.  I'm new to the forum business, so how do I get it to you?

I see Eduard also had these markings on one of their P-400's.  Any chance there is a set of those out there?  :)

For the shark mouth, you might consider a decal mosaic. Draw the various parts on matte Friskett, cut out, and use for templates to cut the pieces from solid color decal sheets. I've seen this done to great effect on WWI aircraft.

Ross,

Thanks for the reply.  I have been looking for a set of these markings from the aftermarket manufacturers, but no luck as of yet.  Maybe I'll have to think of a different scheme.  :(

I'd recommend looking for an aftermarket set. I just finished a Monogram 1/48 P-39 (Looks like the same kit with different box art and decals.) and the decals were incredibly thickā€”I had to scrape off whatever they were using as adhesive on the back.

Good luck!

Monogram P-39 decals

Hi, I was wondering if anyone out there has an extra set of decals from the old Monogram P-39 Airacobra.  Specifically, the shark mouth marking from the 67th FS based on Guadalcanal.  If anyone does, I would love to buy/trade for them.  Thanks!
