Finally a Paint Shelf !

I agree with all the other responses as that is a very nice set up.

I do have to wonder though if you are selling to the general public or not?

That is a LOT of bottles of paint. Wow!

Looks truly excellent--very nice job.

I achieved similar shelves using silverware drawer inserts I bought from Lowe's.

My shelves don't have the "lip" to keep the bottles from gradually creeping forward in response to vibrations of people walking around upstairs (or when my daughter uses her little trampoline jumping thingy), so I periodically have to push everything back.  Also, I have the dividers that run vertically when the shelves are mounted to deal with, which limits how many bottles I can fit on a shelf.  Mine were easy, but I like yours better.

To save you time and effort pushing the jars back on the shelf, go and buy some heavy weight fishing line and staple a piece across the face of each shelf. Cabela's stocks their own label in a low vis green, or even camo. That wouldn't get in your way when removing the jars, and will stop them from falling off whilst your daughter trampolines.

Those are nice looking paint shelves. I use a display rack from a local five and dime store which went out of business. I got two of them. One I keep in the hobby room and the other beside by spray booth in the basement. They are not as nice as these display shelves but they work okay for me.

I really like the paint shelf you made. I will be moving soon and I will be able to have my own workshop to make my own. Do you have plans or measurements that you can share and I could build a similar rack?

I'm not certain (it's been awhile), but I recall the trays being in about the $10-$12 each range.

I have about 10 of them on the wall, but only about 6 of them are full or nearly so.  They are the perfect size for most paints, as well as every variety of weathering powder ( which I think I just about have).

I thought thats what it was I was considering when it came out but after reading about it here and elsewhere I decided not to. I imagine you will have your hands full with the spackling lol nit one of my faves. lol About how much did each tray cost?

Thanks!  The black thing is a Tamiya workstand that, for some reason, I was inspired to buy some time ago.  It's too small, grossly overpriced, and the LED lights burned out in no time and aren't replaceable--I wouldn't recommend it.  The hull of a Tamiya early Tiger I is propped up on the workstand, the rear portion facing the camera. 

The silverware trays have served me well, but when we move soon, I'm going to have a lot of drywall to patch and paint.  :) 

Very nice set up Uproar, That one also gave me some ideas the silverware trays might be my best bet (look at above post about woodworking lol) ,what is the black thing at center desk?

I noticed that but I don't have a dado blade either nor a table saw woodworking is not my forte, gimme some metal and I can weld up most anything,lol you should see my homemade spray booth 1/2" square tubing all mitered and tig welded and coverer with sheet steel I use for race car bodies my Dad saw me builing it and just shook his head he does that alot with me lol.

John, I cant take credit for this in any way, I was looking at a "Spice Rack"  made many yrs ago as a woodshop project when it clicked. My woodworking skills are not the greatest, I would of like to had "Dado" cuts for the shelfs but since I did not have such blade I cut little spacer blocks for the shelfs to sit upon. The length from top of a shelf to the bottom of the next is 2.75" which for my paint jar needs works. 

namrednef is Right On about finding scraps at job sites. Althoug even buying your lumber new would be around $10.00 depending on the size you build.

Many folks may not feel like investing in new lumber for projects such as this and other hobby related furniture.

Let me offer a tip: When you are out driving, keep an eye out for new houses going up or additions to a house and note if there is a dumpster on-site. You would not believe what gets tossed in there lumber-wise! Such waste! (Additions are best because most times, old wood is torn off and tossed away in whole pieces).

On a new home site I once found a 4' x 4' piece of 3/4" finished plywood!

It's generally accepted that stuff in a dumpster is free for the taking, but it is best to show up when there are workmen on-site. Most times you don't even have to ask, just get someone's attention and gesture to something you want. Even though I'm often doing the HVAC at the site.....I've never had a problem.

But try not to take anything from a deserted site, snooping is usually okay.....but wait for approval.
