Lighting/shadow problems??? Read here
Posted by Anonymous on Thursday, November 27, 2003 2:58 PM
Ok as hard as we try we never have perfect lighting and there always seems to be a shadow that makes things hard to see.... Dont know if its been suggested before...So Im going to suggest it.

I use a nightblaster headlamp...often when Im painting parts I might get a shadow ussually from my hand or something else that can make things kinda hard to see...well I just throw this thing on and most of the problem dissapears plus its focused lighting and not just general lighting!Wink [;)]

These handy lil gadgets are available several places Academy Sports, The Sports Authority and occasionally Walmart...
Features a soft web elastic band
Halogen Bulb w/adjustable beam pattern
Runs on 2 AA batteries
The "Lamp" can be pivoted in several positions
and it costs roughly $8.00Approve [^]

I've been using this for years to help with fly tying but just tried it while working on a model lastnight!Big Smile [:D]

I use something similar for work(home remodelling)called the Topspot 2. I highly recommend them for anyone. They're handy for all sorts of things.

Sounds like a great idea History. I find that I'm always shifting my models around in different angles to get light on all surfaces. Sounds like a problem solverCool [8D]

Great idea. On the Snap-on tool truck the other day, the tool man had a neat pair of glasses with out the glass and two lights one on each side of the frame. Thats just a great idea History.

I have used the following arrangements succesfully so far.

1.) 2 Spot lights at opposite ends of the desk
2.) Hiking head lamp (LED 2 settings)
3.) Desk-lamp with build-in magnifying lens
4.) Head worn magnifying lens with build in light

Mine is very similar to the one below:

Also soon getting something like this, but mine will have a light build into it.
Comes with an assortment of different strength lenses too.
