My find at the local beauty supply

Nice find Randy. I've been using all types of nail files from that section. The ones with the three grades is excellent. All kinds of good stuff there for the finding. Never saw those particular tips but I'll keep an eye out. Thanks.

You bet they are the bomb Got me a bag of 500 a few weeks ago and wouldnt be with out them. Actually stole the first 2 of those eyemakeup aplicatoors from the wife

You have no idea how unconvincing and scary a tranny can be.

I am only 35-40 minutes from San Francisco as well. We both have weird cities nearby.

Right... I've been to the local pharmacy a few times the past couple of weeks. First to get 10 ml dose cups (for mixing paint, but the girls behind the counter don't know that), then syringes (for measuring paint, but the girls behind the counter don't know that) and then syringe needles  (for gun barrels etc, but the girls behind the counter don't know that). Tell me 'bout funny looks...

Anyway, I made a decision to do all the pharmacy shopping in the same pharmacy, so the girls behind the counter should be used to this guy buying all the 'weird' stuff.

PhD. The job has its perks, but the job satisfaction caused by tangible results is not among them. I've been known to work very hard for months and years with nothing to show for it, except some papers with my name on them. Which is accounts for at least 80% of my motivation for getting back to the modeling hobby: When you get something right, you know instantly. When you mess up, you have to face the music right there and then. The time scale with modeling is fast (hours and days), so you see progression from your efforts.

Oh well.

I had similar issues one time when I was rebuilding an aquarium pump. The instuctions recomended using a dab of nail polish on the tiny screws to keep them place so the vibration from the pump won't losen them. I got some odd looks at the store when I went to pick out a bottle and then more when I went to the check-out counter. The topper was when some friends dropped by a few days later and the bottle was still sitting on my table....I live alone!

Good find vetteman, beuty shops are also where you'll find methel methacryate nail acrylics, the resin is useful for some casting jobs and the powder alone added to Ca glue makes a fast building super hard filler. My approach to modeling is a wholistic one in that I never really stop modeling.  One eye is always looking for some kind of material, tool, or brick-a brack that I can use in building. Most things work some don't, some work with a bit of modifying. The point is the search is never over, put yourself in the shoes of the first guy who thought, "I'm gonna put vinegar on my decals and melt those lil buggers onto my model".
