TOO many clamps...
Posted by HSteve on Wednesday, October 7, 2009 8:49 PM

I'm needing a decent supply of various clamps, other than clothespins and rubber bands(the old stand-by's)

any suggestions?

I'm building 1/48 right now, but I'll be moving down to 1/72 as soon as I remember what I'm doing...

mainly aircraft, WWII+, but some 1/700 ships in mind as well...

If you happen to have a Harbor Frieght near you they carry a tube of small spring clamps also small C-clamps,hemostats and vise grip style pliers or they have a web site also. You could also check out your big home improvment stores they carry small clamps as well. I have too many clamps lol. Micro Mark a little expensive but great to deal with,so is Model Expo....Hope that helped out let me know...

Clamps can be useful as well as potentially destructive to your project. When I need a broad flat clamp I use office clamps.  Otherwise I use clothespins, some which I reverse to get a longer jaw. For heavy duty I use mini Quick Grip beam clamps.

Also take a look at clamp style hair pins.

My thoughts exactly. Here are some that I use regularly. I believe these are what John is talking about:

If you use Tenax 7R or something similar you rarely need any clamps. Wink [;)]
