Pledge future current name?
Posted by jvtroyen on Sunday, October 26, 2014 3:57 AM

Hi,

here in Europe Pledge Future is unobtainable (or it costs over €30 to have Walmart ship it over here), so when a friend decided to take a roadtrip to the States, I asked him to keep an eye out for Pledge Floor care multi-surface finish, which I believe (from reading a recent FSM) to be the latest incarnation of the product.

The closest thing he was able to find was "Pledge Floor Care Tile and Vinyl floor finish ". The bottle looks remarkably the same, mentions future shine and durable acrylic protection, but I can't help but wonder : is it the same product with a slightly different name, something comparable (i.e. maybe thinner or less concentrated) or something different altogether?

Thanks,
Jeroen

Your probably don't want six bottles but I think this is the current label for "Future"

Unless the packaging has changed again in the past 16 months, the one Bick posted is correct.

I recall a rather extensive research program on my part last year to obtain the correct one.

There seems to be some debate whether the new bottle is simply repackaged or a re-formulation unsuitable for modeling use.I cannot comment on that as I have no practical experience with both.

I just happened to pass by Don's Airbrush tips and found this recent addendum :

"I got an E-mail from Flo Austin.  Flo tells me that Future is now sold as Pledge Multi-Surface Floor Finish, and the manufacturer says the formula is the same.  It has also been marketed as Pledge Tile & Vinyl Floor Finish with Future Shine.

Thanks, Flo"

Yup. Thanks, Flo!

I build about 5-6 models a year. Based on my usage rate, my 3 bottle of PMF will last for 90 years.

Not to kick a can down the road further- but you want to use Pledge Tile and Floor Finish, not Multi-Surface Floor finish as that is made for wood floor and not suitable for plastic models.  Better still, throw it out and use a modelers' brand clear coat.

Further research has shown they are the same. Tile & floor is the 2011 packaging. Multi-surface is the 2013.

This thread is 2 years old, and the packaging has changed at least twice since then, likely making all past advice on this thread moot.

Just a heads-up is all.

Well, I found a 2013 package in 2015, so it can't hurt to know what it looked like when. It doesn't really expire. Could be hiding in your local supermarket on the back of a shelf :-)

There's a valid point for sure! I hadn't considered that, so my bad. Oops

The latest FSM has a one page article on the name change of Future.
