I also have one of those Chinese lathes, and a Sherline lathe set up as a mill.  Hard to turn wheels to make smooth curves, however.

I would love to be able to crank out aircraft wings with a realistic looking airfoil.  I occasionally carve one by hand from basswood, but that is sure a lot of work!

Yep.  What's wrong with turning the knobs by hand?  (rhetorical question)

I have a 7 x 10 Chinese lathe that I am very happy with (minilathe.com).

My daughter on Saturday showed me an add on her cellphone for a CNC mill kit for less than $200.  Yesterday I checked it out, and the working volume was about four inches by quarter inch by less than 0.10 inch.  Pretty small!

I think I will wait a bitSad
