Plastic "for sale" signs are a great source of thin styrene sheet and the price is right.

So are those little single serving jelly things you can get during breakfast at any lesser-quality restaurant (the only kind I go to). I just scored about 50 of those at work, the contents had turned into a semi-solid. The easiest way to clean them is to peel off the foil top and then dump them in a sink full of warm water, stirring every so often, for a couple of hours until the jelly dissolves, then rinse in hot water and stack carefully for your next scratchbuilding adventure/disaster.

EverGreen sells a pack called Odds and Ends. I bought that, it had several flat pieces, round tubes, a couple very thin sheets of clear, and some square tubing. I think the price stamped on the bag is $5? Don't hold me to that though. Now if I could just find something to use it on Tongue [:P]

Please, please don't go ripping off people's "for sale" signs and then blame it on the forums when you get caught.  I can see it now, "But Officer, I just needed it to..."

Sign - Ditto [#ditto] I'm in the same boat, and I'll be ordering the Evergreen variety bag or whatever it's called.  I know great models has it online - there are 2 sizes, I'll probably get me the jumbo size for a few dollars more.  I want a nice variety, but Evergreen offers so much (incredible selection of stock, I-beams, quarter-round, whatever you can imagine) that I might just start with the variety bag 1st and see where that leads me.  Cool [8D]

Evergreen stock is good for specialty pieces, but for a cheaper source look in the phone book under "plastic suppliers" or similar. Most times you can buy a whole sheet of styrene fairly reasonably. My local shop even has a remnants section selling it by the pound. They also have clear rod, glues, etc.
