The seam scraper I have is the Squadron one, like this:  http://www.hobbylinc.com/htm/squ/squ10203.htm

Well worth the money and easy to use.

Either on top or beside the raised lines is do-able.

I don't think the raised panel line will be enough for a guide (especially if you're scribing on top of them)... you'll need something else (dymo, steel ruler, eraser shield, etc.).

No one has mentioned this bit of wisdom yet, so I figured I might as well mention Swanny's contribution on this topic:

I've used his tips a bunch.  I'm pretty sure he even has a specific build that covers how he removes raised panel lines and then scribes over them, don't remember which build however.  Good luck Smile [:)]

i have a scriber tool, do you mean scribe "beside" the raised line? or above the raised line? killing two birds with one stone.. will the raised panel line be enough for a guide? or do i still have t use dymo tape? thanks

I use a seam scraper from, I think, MicroMark. Beautiful little tool, I removes the raised grid from a 2500th scale Enterprise D easily. It had two "heads" with each one angled a different direction.

While I have not built anything with a riase panel line... how much different can that be from a mold line?  I scrape them with a knife as described above then a light buff with a Scotch brite scouring pad to reduce chance of a flat spot .
