Parafilm "M" has worked the best for me.  The really thin, translucent, stuff stretches about three times its size and the wax base sticks into place with no worry about residue.  To tuck it in place I either roll it or use a wet toothpick.  I've used it for enamal or acrylic paints.  One roll goes a long way.  It's cheap too.

I've recently had some success using Bare Metal Foil to mask canopies & transparencies.

Burnish down well with a Q-tip then use a NEW #11 Xacto blade to trim around canopy supports.   Burnish again then paint.

I had a lot of trouble masking my last canopy, The masking tape just wouldent stay down.  So I finally desided to have a look at other means of masking.  I have seen Eduaard masks but they are exspensive.  I have also looked at Mr MAsking Sol and Micro MAsk. What is your favorite?
