They were pretty shiny when new, though I think the restored museum birds may be a bit more glossy than they were back then.

Great link!  I've saved it for future builds.  I would never have guessed that Spitfires were so glossy!

Here are a couple of good sites for reference photos.  The first is Prime Portal and the second is Aircraft Resource Center.  At Prime Portal, here is a great selection of LG and wheel well photos of a Mk.Vb:

At ARC, go near the top of the page, click "walkarounds", then "propeller walkarounds", then scroll down to the Spitfire section.  Lots of great photos there.

I did a search on google and yahoo for good images of spitfires.  I'm looking for some detail of landing gear and wheel wells.  Black and White, Color, blueprint, sketch, I am not particular on version.  I am building a MkVb but any photo's will make me happy.
