Site problems ???
Posted by Anonymous on Saturday, January 17, 2004 7:58 PM
Don't know if it's just me or my p.c., but have had some problems in finding the FSM site lately. My browser all of a sudden can't find it. Have had to do a search and keep marking new favorites as site seems to keep changing and no link anymore to current issues and next issues ???

Anyone else notice something strange going on ???? Also - seems that the February issue is late. Anyone else out there with similar problems ????Sad [:(]

I have had to go to posts that I have mailed to myself to keep for future reference.
If I type in finescale.com, I get a message that there is an error with the site or it doesn't exist anymore. Confused [%-)]
I'm glad to see it's not just me.

Me too! What's going on? it says "We're sorry, but the page you requested contains an error or no longer exists"... We must be in internet limbo or something... Some overhauling, Lawrence?

I came here via the Scale Auto Enthusiast's website. Someone over there gave me a link to get here. Been getting an 'error message' all Saturday, 1/17/04.

Hmmm ... me thinks there is a fungus amongus .... Confused [%-)]

Gee ... and I thought it was my stupid computer that was acting up ... guess not ... when I try to log out .... I get that error message ... "We're sorry, but the page you requested contains an error or no longer exists"... If I go to the bottom of the page ... in the wee little print ... and click on "log in - log out" I can most always get around the ... "We're sorry, but the page you requested contains an error or no longer exists"... error ... but it sure is a pain in the butt ... SoapBox [soapbox]

I sure hope David "the 'net wizzard" can fix this for us ... Bow [bow] Big Smile [:D]

... stinger

It depends ... seems like it does something different each time ... I just keep clicking back and forth until I get to where I want to go ... sometimes I have to "go all the way out" and "come back in" to get things to work right ... good luck ... I don't think this will last long ... but then I am far from being an expert .... Smile,Wink, & Grin [swg]

I remember last Wednesday a small announcement, hidden away in the announcement section, that this web site was going to be overhauled and speeded up. Then the rebuild was rescheduled for Thursday and that never happened. Maybe the overhaul was done on late Friday or early Saturday? I think the site is broken now.

I don't feel any faster.

Now that you mention it I remember seeing something about that, too.
I guess the fix didn't take!!!!

Hmmm...I've had the same problems as ya'll. Got here this time via Robert's Sherman build page (thanks Tim and Robert!).
Funny, I tried the same strategy with Erock's 1/16 Tiger build page...but maybe that one links to the FSM main page, while Robert's links directly to the forums.

Hope it all gets figured out!

Well, if it is broken, this is the right community to come to! Provided that what ever is broken is made of plastic... Tongue [:P]

Man, have you guys seen the "attendance" at the forum index? sometimes it's just one or two people! This thing is really keeping people away...

I really don't go to the home page very often anyway. I'd rather read the issue on the throne Wink [;)] Whistling [:-^] Angry [:(!] Smile [:)]

The site was down for a good part of the weekend. Or more accurately, it appears that the non-Forum portion of the site was down. The two are more or less separate, which explains why people trying to get in through the home page were getting error messages and people accessing the forums via a direct URL were able to get in.

We had implemented significant system upgrades last Monday. You might have noticed some minor changes to the layout of some pages and the green navigation bar to the left, which we implemented as part of the upgrade.

Also, the upgrade resulted in changes to the URLs for some portions of the site; many URLs leading directly to specific articles within the site changed.

Of course, everything ran smoothly for the rest of the week until the weekend.....Our online tech folks have rebooted the site and are working on fixes to prevent this kind of crash in the future. We apologize for any distress this may have caused.

If you continue to notice problems with the home page or other pages within the site, drop me a line.

The bright side is that at least it happened on the weekend: Imagine trying to get through a day at work without periodic spirits-lifting visits to FineScale.com! [:0]
