AT6

Seems things are getting nasty. Aaron will most likely lock this thread. All this bull S786 about post counts seems rediculous. Manny and Hans, if you look at your post counts, how many of them have any real content? When you euphemistically refer to yourselves as having the most "contributions" and any question of your status being  classified as bullying. Way too much *%#+#  envy between you.

excuse me?! Have you even read any of the threads on this site? HVH has some of the most "real content" in his posts of anyone Ive seen in this forum. I can see going after Manny, with is yes/no/maybe/HO/229 stuff, but Hans!? Seriously?  Hmm

Now that I'm here, where am I??

Don't too hard on Manny either..

I suggest you (as in All of you) check his work in the Dioramas... He's posted hundred and hundreds of build-photos, offered tips and tricks, he's given many members high praise for their works (all the while asking poigniant questions or offering tips on improvement), and he also has written posts asking for help and ideas.. He's also a serious aircraft affecianado, and a, if I'm not mstaken, a Licensed Private Pilot...

Sure, he goofs around a lot, but for you guys that DON'T like his "goofiness", or think his posts are "pointless", I refer you to the FSM Forum Guidelines...

/forums/t/116576.aspx

  • Frivolous and pointless jokes are welcome. Healthy, humorous debate and banter is actively encouraged!
  • Painting his post-count with a broad brush of "pointlessness" is not fair...  It's ALSO against the Forum Guidelines...  A "Frivolous" or "pointless" post is not "illegal".... See??? It's what? Oh yeah..

    "ENCOURAGED"

You don't have to think he's funny, but you have to let him try...

Until the FSM Admin changes that, y'all need to get off his back..

    Ja, Herr Hans.  Yes

Yes, there are at least a few pointless threads herein.  However, they exist for the amusement of the participants.  If someone doesn't like them, don't participate.  If you can't participate in a light-hearted manner, don't participate and don't be surprised if you are shunned by the regulars.

Otherwise, make it a great day... or not.  The choice is yours. Big Smile

Yes, there are.. And the Admin has seen fit to allow them to remain, much to the consternation of a few, shall we say, squeaky wheels...

They violate no part of the TOU, hence no action has been taken... I personally choose not to participate, except on the rare occasion that something catches my eye...  The rest of the time, they get ignored...

I suggest those "Squeaky Wheels" do the same, instead of constantly trying to stifle a portion of the membership, and make them comform to whatever THEIR OWN idea of what the forums "should be".....

Perhaps the best way for the squeaky wheels to obtain forum nirvana would be to buy the FSM forum website from Kalmbach.

Then the squeaky wheels can do whatever they like with rules & regulations.

Or change it read, "Pointless and Frivilous" posts about  "Pointless and Frivilous" posts are encouraged"...

Frankly, I see no difference in the post that reads, "Zuiho", vs the post that reads, "Aaron, make them stop saying, "Zuiho" please?"...

'Cept maybe the "whiny" tone of the latter...  'Course, that's only the voice I'm hearing in my head.. Usually, it's Sam Elliot's voice (I wouldn't do that if I was you, amigo..).. But for those other types, it's generally a whiny one..

And you want to be a moderator here Hans? Do you really think that a moderator should write of the opinions of a group of forum members and classify them as whiners because they disagree with the direction that a "modeling forum" is going???? Perhaps the rules need to be adjusted. I am a modeler. I do not know many real life modelers except for one so my ability to discuss my hobby is very limited. I come here on a "modeling forum" to read and discuss my hobby. There are a gazillion other avenues for socializing beyond that. I don't pick up a copy of Guns and Ammo to read about the latest EcoTech V6 that Ford is putting in their F150's or to read about Mathew Perry's lateset addiction.

What's moderating have to do with an opinion?

Moderators have rules and guidelines that are set upon them by admin.. They must be able to separate their personal opinions and Forum TOU enforcement... Can I DO that?? Yes, I CAN... I've done it for years...

No cop likes everyone, not everyone like cops...  Yet, there they are...

I am a modeler. I do not know many real life modelers except for one so my ability to discuss my hobby is very limited. I come here on a "modeling forum" to read and discuss my hobby.

    Glad you brought that up..

Model-building is very solitary thing... Have you ever been denied the right to read or discuss (socializing with) your hobby with anyone else? No.. You have NOT, sir... Your "limited ability" (your words) to dicuss the hobby is not hampered in any way that I have noticed...  If it has been, have you notified the Admin?  What official actions have you taken? Seriously... Any?

There are a gazillion other avenues for socializing beyond that..

So you'd rather limit the socializing of everyone else to modeling only, am I tracking?

Nobody can get to "know" anyone and just chew the proverbial fat here?  Manny's stuff, the trivia, the music threads, all that must go because it doesn't fit YOUR vision of what the forum SHOULD be?

There are pages and pages and PAGES of "model stuff" in here... I could spend weeks reading them and not even crack the first year's worth in just the Aircraft Forums... Perhaps you'd like me to find you few links that you'd enjoy more?

I'd be happy to.. Just lemme know... Research is my gig... PM me anytime...

I don't pick up a copy of Guns and Ammo to read about the latest EcoTech V6 that Ford is putting in their F150's or to read about Mathew Perry's lateset addiction

And you don't pick up a copy of FSM often either, I'd wager... Otherwise, you'd get what you''re asking for.. All models, all the time... Therefore, that part of your arguement has little to do with the forums..

Or do you subscribe? You know... To access ALL the features here that're FOR MODELERS, Exclusively?

This is a BIG site, Jester... A REALLY big site...

Well then Hans, you can have it buddy. I never said that you can't get to know folks here on the forum. But to follow people around and post in their thread just to be annoying?? Come on , surely even you can see the immaturity and the need for a fix to that problem. And that happens ALOT!

And I think alot of people were denied their right to participate in the forums this weekend due to jdice80's unfortunate breakdown. I say unfortunate, because in the begining he made ALOT of very valid points about the state of the forum. The unfortunate part is that he took the focus off of that and put it all on himself by the rant.

One man's banter is another's insult. I've had posts I made in jest at Manny pulled because he complained they were insulting. The banter? He said he was lazy in a post and I reminded him he said that in another... and that was insulting apparently. The point I'm trying to make here is that we can all interpret the rules differently, but the one interpretation that matters is Aaron's. I've been a moderator on four other message boards at least, so I'm not talking out of my okole here either.

Well, following people around the forum to screw with 'em is "stalking"...  And that, while annoying, isn't specifically against the TOU, but it IS inflamatory, and that can be dealt with.. But that isn't a moderator's responsibility...  That's an Admin job... The Mod's job, in that case, is to make the admin aware of the problem... Meanwhile, the mod has to have a means of dealing with it... A simple "Knock it off", back-channel, usually will suffice, if it's a forum member in good standing, who wishes to REAMAIN one..

If it continues, then it's time for sterner measures, IMHO....

jdice may have made some valid points in his "manifestor".. Where he screwed the pooch however, is that his post was inflammatory, and "called members out", which is a violation of the TOU..  His rant probably would have locked, pending review by Admion... If the Admin would have felt it was ok, then it would have been unocked, and oob-la-dee, life goes on...

It woulda got locked down (and the thread not just locked, but deleted), later... Provided it took the same direction it did, and there is no reason to think that it would do otherwise...  The same people would have posted the same things, and the fight would been on...

The fact that jdice is still running around loose in here just tells me that there's no one at the helm in Milwaukee today... Guess the Boss took a sick day.. The "weekend mod" would be still be needed to continue to pull Charge of Quarters...

I have three windows open right now, monitoring three different hooches in here... Think there's someone that's working full time can do that?

As for jdice's "denying" anyone the use of the MODELING forums, I didn't see that.. There were still plenty of  postings going one in the respective hooches...  One thing I DID notice though..

A newer guy made a post about PennCon 2011in the same hooch as all the bull going on,  and not ONE of you clowns even told him, "Attaboy"...  'Cept one, that is... All while everyone was running theor mouths about a buncha green squares, post counts, and whatever the hell it was that gomer up there was yammering on about...

Hans, I couldn't agree with you more on jdice. He jacked the whole thing up with his bout of insanity or whatever the heck you want to call it. And honestly, although I have been posting A LOT in the threads about the current state of the forum, if you really want to analyze my postings, you should go back and look at exactly what all I have posted in. All you have to do is click on my name, and the look at the posts I have participated in.

And honeslty, I too and very surprised that no one has hit the nuke button in the FSM control room yet.
