Hans von Hammer

Forum members,

Because of the recent problems on the Forums, we have closed the "Odds and Ends" section of the Forum. This means that non-modeling related threads will no longer be permitted on the FSM Forums. Anything we deem inappropriate will be removed. This includes any references to post counts, activity bars, tags. etc. Persistent violators of this rule will find their posts moderated or their accounts closed.

I'm sorry that it has come to this, but it is clear that there are a few members who can't seem to help themselves when it comes to baiting other members. I have issued many. many warnings, and had even tried to work out  compromises to no avail.

Happy modeling.

Regards, Aaron

NOW, I'm definately reconsidering my continued membership here AND my subscription to FSM...

Because of the above mentioned "few members",we all get piped! No "non-modeling related threads"?How very lame!

TD4438,

This decision was not taken lightly. I have always encouraged members to regard the Forum as a large modeling club where some off-topic conversation was encouraged. Unfortunately, that opportunity was taken advantage of and the problems have mounted. I would like to see the Forum return to the good-natured place it once was but only time will tell.

Regards, Aaron

It seems to me the squeaky wheels should have gotten the grease instead of hosing everybody.I got a lot of great info from forum members concerning a trip to San Franccisco.Under the new policy,we'd all get potentially shafted for posting/replying to such a query.

Aaron, Matt, et al...

Just so you know, I had some absolutely brilliant work wiped out in that nuke, not to mention a lot of links that I don't have book-marked...

I, for one, would have liked to have had a couple hours warning to save it for m'self...   Next time y'all decide to do that to forum (or thread), how about a "Last Call"?

I'm applyin' for the job...

For a reference, I refer you to the last post in this thread..

/forums/t/141164.aspx?PageIndex=12

Got a problem with it?

Sorry, but I have a problem with it.

The simple fact is that the FSM forums don't need a "weekend moderator". What it needs are for some members to simply respect others' very simple and not-too burdensome wishes. That done, problem solved. Smile

Once again, for the umpteenth time; the problem HAD been talked about several times, and in a thread  that got beaten to death, the moderator HAD weighed in and agreed that there was a problem, and the advice, conclusions, and suggestions were then promptly....ignored and ridiculed by the same group. THAT was the problem.

And if it ever come down to that action, NO ONE involved in this weekends' truly regrettable mess should be appointed. If you were posting, you were too close to the action--myself included, just to be fair.

I understand that "all odds & ends" means all odds & ends of course (including a certain un-named thread Crying). It is what it is - but a last call would indeed have been useful. See you all in the plastic threads!

You're right doog. But then what happened. Before there was really a chance to a) give people a chance to demonstrate a willingness to follow the "new" way of doing things and b) before Aaron had the chance to smack people for not following the "new" way of doing things, a bunch of threads (and one 'manifesto', a freakin' manifesto??!! Seriously?? C'mon!!!) get opened to complain about all the "intimidation and bullying goinig on it the forum and why isn't everyone suddenly, overnight, playing nice".  You had one side saying, "Stop being a bully, stop being mean, stop picking on me" but being too cowardly to point a finger and say "THIS, what you did RIGHT HERE is exactly what I am talking about - STOP IT" and another side saying, "What are we doing wrong" all the time knowing that they'd continued to post baiting comments throughout the forum.

I was on the outside looking it at all this, and it really was pathetic. PA-FREAKIN'-THETIC....

And yet you guys continue to point fingers and throw things at each other. And you wonder why it was closed? This thread is taking a turn towards where the other went. Time to close this one as well.

Very well, post edited to avoid further charges. It seems we can't have a productive discussion around here with tensions so high.

PM to ya, Boyd.

Whether we agree with the decision or not is irrelevant.  What's done is done.

This should be an object lesson to all of us.  I personally, plead guilty to carrying on too much of the silliness and for that I offer my apologies.  This is after all, FSM's forum.  If they want to nuke every one of them, it's up to them.

We're losing sight of the big picture.  This is primarily a model site, right?  Let's cut all the superfluous chit-chat and stick with the reasons that brought us all here.

I'm not cancelling my subscription (renewed it a couple months ago) and as long as FSM will allow it, I'll continue to stay here.
