I really like the idea, I just want to be able to upload them from my computer, and not need a host site.

Excellent idea. One in each Forum group would be good, but I'd be happy with just one, period. An option that you can actually upload pics to the FSM site would make life a lot easier. I can see a problem maybe with size restrictions, but limit the size of the pic, to say 50kb. A JPEG file that size would be perfect.

Sounds like a good idea, but of course it will cost money. Is FSM up for paying for the storage space? There are a lot of members here, and the bandwidth could be considerable. They'd also have to do something to prevent bandwidth theft. And, this being the internet, they may want to consider screening the images before hosting them.

Storage space isn't a concern. We own, host, manage our own servers/websites. The server which is hosting FineScale was supersized. Plenty of room.

I've been thinking about this for awhile actually. The main problem is time. With our setup and integrating with the forums, etc. it's most likely a custom or heavily modified solution.

I think a Gallery would be great to showcase members builds. I agree that only finished models should be in a Gallery, with the In-progress/construction pics staying in the topic forums.

Strongly agree.

Right now, the GB moderator has to go find space (see effort of Larry Dunn in Towed Gun GB) & that's tough.
Else members have to dedicate own space. I have 80mb, but will have to rotate stuff sooner or later & thus piux will no longer be available to others.

I don't want to mention another armor-focused forum who runs "Campaigns" not GB's,. but they provide a separate thread section (FSM does too now), a log for each builder to make notes in, and a photo gallery.

The community looses a lot when the modelers don't have an easy way to post pix & notes that have a reasonable life span so that others may research & benefit.

IMHO ....

Hmm...wonder what site/forum that could be... Wink [;)]

An excellent, well organized and designed site. I have no problem with giving another website the recognition they deserve. Smile [:)]

I can understand why it is easier for us to be able to upload directly from our PC to the FSM server, but I can understand why FSM doesn't want it, since a server has NO unlimited capacity.

The idea of having a gallery section is great though.Big Smile [:D]
