Well, about one week to go, and still no word. Looks like FSM will be another no-show.

Pity, seems when you have literally thousands of visitors interested in modeling in Louisville over the weekend, you *might* want to at least make an appearance and advertise. Geez, we're not asking for the cover of an issue... Sad [:(]

I'm glad I'm going so I don't have to rely on a mag to report on this high mark in the Sci-Fi modeling world.

Not to join a lynch mob mentality or anything, but I gave up on FSM for anything SciFi related years ago. They've thrown the SciFi genre the occasional bone, but that's been about it. I realize that we're only a small minority w/in what's a small hobby, but still. No real community feeling from FSM for a long, long time where SF is concerned. The lack of coverage for one fo the premiere Fantasy, Horror & SciFi modeling events of each year pretty much drives that thinking home to me.

I still pick up the occasional issue, but most of what's in the various issues has been rehashed in the past. Unless they're covering new ground, I thumb thru the issue to see if there's anything I can use for construction or finishing - if one isn't sealed up on the shelf.

I may make it since I'm a whopping 30 miles away.

Wish I could go but just too far. You all have fun and someone take some pics, please.

Well, Wonderfest was, as usual, the best fun I've had all year. Dropped about $250 in the dealer's room, met friends I haven't seen in, well, a year, and marveled over almost 500 amazing models, each of them would easily pull in 1st places (if not "Best Of") in every IPMS show. All this without FSM. Didn't see them there taking pics, mulling around, networking, etc. nothing. And you know what? I didn't care! It is the show for me every year, as well as hundreds (if not a thousand or two) through the door.

Although I did see a lot of show/advertisement flyers in one hallway by the pool, and by Saturday night they were for the most part gone. FSM had a small table (the only one RIGHT BESIDE THE MODEL DISPLAY ROOM) and there was a big ol' pile when I left on day 3. They either restocked, or word of mouth has spread...

Well, FSM wasn't there, but SSM was. Here is a very nice review:

Well, considering the sci-fi forum here seems to have the least amount of activity, I think that expresses the general attitude of the readership of FSM. Sci-Fi is just NOT a source of great interest.

Say that to the overr 3000 registered users at Starshipmodeler.com, not to mention culttvman, etc. etc. etc...

Maybe there's a reason sci-fi people don't come here much. What very very little information we get is already months old at other forums. That, and we know when we are "looked down the nose" at.
