Geezer

...I think forums should be free of pop-up ads...

I agree, but I'll go one step further:  It's a lazy design.  The popup solicits joining the newsletter list and subscriptions to FSM.  I subscribe to both.  The page should be able to read from my user login that I am already a subscriber to the e-newsletter and to the magazine (up through 2015, as a matter of fact), and decide not to display that particular popup.  It's lazy designing.  I know, I work in IT, testing new apps, and business system analysts and developers often decide not to implement user-friendly features, because the cost in resources is too high.  I suspect the same thing is at play here.

I agree, Baron. I had alluded to that in my posts. I am also in IT and it sounds like the same job! It is sloppy (or I don't care) work. Folks, if you want it to change, email customer support using the link that Tim provided.

What I'm tempted to do is Every time it pops back up...... Re-subscribe !

After I do that about 1000 times someone is bound to take notice !

the Baron

subfixer

I didn't even notice it until I read this thread. Subliminal messaging?!  I don't mind it, but I will hit the X when it does start to bother me.

Love your sublimated implication. Reminds me of the Simpsons episode where Homer gives up his company's dental plan even though Lisa needs braces. If you've seen it, this will all makes sense, if not.......

You didn't see it (free beer)?  It pops up when I land on the index page (free beer) and it stays there (free beer) as I go from page to page (free beer) till I click the X on the band (free beer) to make it go away.

Not a big deal (free beer) but I don't think it's a subliminal ad (free beer)
