What's the story/reason behind your avatar?

Well Gary,,,  I wish I had some sort of interesting story behind mine,,,  but  ,,, ,,,    Mine is a pic of one of my favorite builds. It's called "Flak 30, Russia 1943".....   I built it about 20+ years ago.

Dunno why, but I just love the fedora wearing pit-bull image. Im sure there some kind of subconscious meaning to it.

Mine is a pic I took of an F-111 doing a dump and burn over the Gold Coast Indy in 2007.

I was using a fairly cheap camera and by the time I got a decent pic, it was a fair distance away - so it is a bit grainy, but, I'm still happy with it.

I chose it because the F-111 was synonymous with the RAAF for so long (they've now been retired) and, as a plane modeler (well, originally) I wanted something to show where my interests lay.

Mine represents a long term interest of mine- early science fiction TV shows and fims.  About 10 years ago, I found this resin model of Dr. Zarkov's rocket ship from the 1930's Flash Gordon theater serials.  Always wanted a model of that, but too difficult for me to scratch build.  The figure in the foreground is from a Marx Playset, a miniature layout of Space Academy, from the "Tom Corbett, Space Cadet" TV show that started in 1950.

I'm a pilot. When I signed up for the board in 2004?, I was doing some armor modeling, so there it was. Then, I saw the pic of the tank "taking off".

I served with the 1st Infantry Division (Forward), Cooke Barracks Germany from 1990 til it rolled up it's colors in September 1991.     We loaded up with the rest of VII Corps from Germany and went to the Gulf.  Right after the air war started my team got attached to 2nd Armored Cavalry Regiment.  I was supporting them at 73 Easting.

Mine is just me on the phone at a stop in a motorcycle trip this summer.

Heinz "Pritzl" Bar, a unique and skilled aviator (not to mention happy in this photo).

Mine is a photo of my Dad, who flew a P-47 with the 365thFS, 386thSQ in the European theatre, enjoying a cockpit revisit in a restored T-bolt at a reunion circa 2006. Not that I'm too proud of him, but I should mention that he received the FAA Master Pilots Award in 2008, and is building a "sport aviation" kit plane so he can continue to fly after they yank his ticket due to age.

One of the defining moments in my teenage years was seeing the gun camera reels he had saved from the war and realizing - my Dad did that before he could drive a car!

Mine is a closeup I made from a team pic back in my "stikpushing" days. I really liked the photo so I made the close up version. this photo was take a few weeks before 9/11.

I enlisted in 1972 and in 1973 went to SE Asia on a Combat Stores (AFS-1) to support the guys on the line.

Crazy to think my daughter, who wasn't even around yet, is not about the same age Nolan was in that photo.

Years ago at the IPMS Nationals, I saw a guy with a T-shirt depicting a Jap Zero parked on a beach with the canopy open and footsteps leading to a one-holer outhouse. Above it was a Marine Corsair making a strafing run on the Zeke. The caption read: "Pappy catches a Zero with his pants down". When I saw the Egg Planes I thought about modeling the same story. I couldn't find palm trees so I gave up. Going through my odds-n-ends, I found a leftover stand from a Frog Spitfire and V-1 kit and figured out that this was the way to go. "Blacksheep, This is Pappy. Ya can't make omelets without smashing some eggs. Scratch one EGGO." I am given to occasional flights of whimsey. Adios, Larry.

well mine is just a picture of my favourite plane the P-40 Warhawk, with a small thumb nail sized pic of the 'red baron' in the top right hand corner.

Doogs, that is so good of you to include a picture of both of your children! We can tell who has priority at your house (which is the way it should be)!

Do you have them building anything yet? Maybe a Snap-Tite kit or two?

I buy all my modeling supplies from ACME. They often explode, and I still don't know why.
