What's The Story/Reason Behind Your Screen Name?

Now i like that. Nice idea, thanks Stik. I hadn't thought of him as an Avatar. And i like the nose art as well.

Anytime one of my favorite Sci Fi movies and characters.

I haven't watched those in a while. Think i will bring them back to camp next weekend. Though not my favorite Sci-Fi, thats Star Wars, yes all 6, Aliens is deffinatly up there.

 And also going to print that off and stick it on my door.

I was in SF from 90-92, but was never on a Team or Tabbed. I did intel there/then, but beleive you me, we had to do lots of ruckin' to be ready to deploy with the the ODAs as needed. I am curious what changes he may have had with the jump manual. I do recall some change in exit techniques during my time on jump status and then we got a new style reserve chute that required a modified technique for emergency deployment. Not that I would trade my Army expereinces for anything, but sometimesI do think it would have been cool to be able to have spent some time in the other services as well to do some of the stuff that they do and the Army does not.

As far as kits go for me, my prime focus right now is to finish up a Tamiya 1/35 UE Carrier and Monogram 1/48 F9F-5. But I also have another 2 dozen or so kits in various stages of build from barely started to just about done... How bout yourself?

Well, I've got the 1/48th Tamiya He-162A-2 almost complete. Just needs paint, and final assembly, and it'll be done. I'm on vacation until the 17th of October, so I'm hoping to have it done before then. Just below, you'll see what else is in the works. A couple of them have been in the works for almost 20 years.......... . The A-26 is one of those.

Seems as though everytime I buy a new kit (regardless of how long it's been on the market), THAT is gonna be my next build. That ever happen to you? Or, am I the only one that happens to? And so, because of that little temporary loss of control, I have more models than I can possibly finish in this lifetime, although, if I build two a month, I can theoretically finish them all, IF I don't buy another kit until the present ones are finished. I actually see a therapist, would you believe that?

Mine's pretty unimaginative.   Wabash, after my Alma Mater, the incomparable Wabash College of Indiana.  And Wheels, my lifelong nickname, because my last name's Wheeler and I could run like the wind.  Not a real strong wind.  More like a good spring breeze.

Stik, I'm with you on the stash.  I bought some kits new that have become "classics" settin in the closet.  Someone will be selling them on ebay someday if they're smart.  Hey, that wouldn't be a bad screen name:  "Stashhound".     Rick

Hey, is that the "Memphis Belle" in your avatar? Cool! I used to climb around in her as a kid when it was a derelict aircraft sitting all by its lonesome on a piece of concrete at the airport in Memphis, TN. This was probably back in the mid-1970s, and no one really gave a crap about it's future nor its history. And, of course, I had no idea what it's history was. I just knew it was a B-17. All the instruments were gone out of it, bird nests were in a lot of the instrument holes and elsewhere in the fuselage, graffitti was rampant in it. But I would climb up in the cockpit and pretend I was flying somewhere over Germany in it for hours at a time. How did I get to do this? My dad was in the Tennessee Air National Guard, and he would take me with him to the Memphis International Airport on some of his Guard weekends, as long as I stayed out of the way while I was there. So, I hung out at the Belle. There was also an old F-86D sitting out there next to the Belle, which had been cannibalized for just about everything that could stripped from it. If I had known then what I know now...............

I like to grow things and another member suggested the screen name I now go by.

In a past life I was MikeV on here which is my real name and last initial.

Always wanted to fire a belt fed weapon!

Played a lot of Paintball tournaments in the 90s, the safest way to move from a position was to call for 'Suppression Fire' on the opponent most threatening your position. This was shortened to 'Fire' or 'Bring heat' and 'heat em' up!'

Always the underdogs our team 'the Wild Cardz' did enjoy the spoils of victory now and then. Any hint of a after party and we really represented the 'Wild West'.
