Roger that Real G, we will adjust security protocall as required
we're modelers it's what we do
Ca$h is king Armornut. Everybody accepts it, and you can watch it dwindle in your wallet to know when to stop.
I would not count on vendors with credit card machines.
“Ya ya ya, unicorn papoi!”
DUMB QUESTION???? What type of currency does the vendors usually take, cash, obviously daa, debit cards?? OR will some vendors accept personal checks.
My next question on checks is since Vegas is an "International"city will the cashier at the resort cash a personal check. I have personally only used cash or debit cards in the casino...never been there for anything else.
If some of you Nat vets or brave "travelled" souls could assist a couple of NAT Noobs it sure will make our experience more enjoyable.
Rooms will be booked in a couple weeks solid, rental car has been detailed to my bro. Looking forward to hopefully meeting some if not all of you folks in August.
Thanks guys
Models? Models? OH the ones I'm supposed to have for the NATS LOOK SQUIRREL. Rooms should be booked in a couple weeks, friend is driving down so he can pick my brother and me up from the airprt on the 19th. No promise on finished stuff....may get cold feet and just be a spectator
I just got my flights booked, so it's all systems "go"!
"Mission Control, how are those models coming along?"
"Mission Control, do you copy, over."
"Ummm, Houston we may have a problem."
I really look forward to seeing Steve's Akagi! And those Zeros with painted canopy frames are kinda shaming me into doing the same with the KX-03.
I have half a mind to come out just to see your Akagi.
I have been twice: 2004 in Phoenix and 2007 Orange County. What a great spectical it is. Definelty reccomend going if you can. I don't compete anymore but I sure would like to go browse the tables and vendors and see some of you all.
Thanks,
John
I feel very fortunate. I was able to attend when it was in KC. (I live here), and in 2017 in Omaha. Next year ( if all goes well) , I will be able to go to Omaha again. The following year I will be retiring, so the trip to San Marcos is on tap. All predicated on whether I’m still kicking, of course.
Modelcrazy, If I could work it out, the trip to Vegas would be worth it just to see your ship in person. I’m already jealous of those who can.
disastermaster I quit going to any of them about ten years ago.. After all it's just, "another plaque on the wall"

This is my first and probably only chance to get to the Nats. After my lung transplant and almost occupying a plot at the veterans cemetery up the hill a few years back I'm not going to regret anytghing if I can help it. If I have a chance to go somewhere, I'll go. Becides, after all the work I'm putting into the Akagi it world be a shame not to show it off and just put it on the shelf.
Steve
Building a kit from your stash is like cutting a head off a Hydra, two more take it's place.

disastermaster Real G For me, it's even less - they are in a paper bag under my model display case. It's the thrill of the game - like a dog chasing cars. Ya know, I've often wondered what that dog would do if he ever caught that car?

There was a Mad Magazine feature "The Lighter Side of..." that answered that question!
Next stop: car wash.
Armornut - Glad you can make it! See you in Vegas! Now let's bang out some stuff for the contest! Yeah that goes for me too.
Greg - That diner looks really cool. I'll definitely check it out if I am passing through.
Plane tickets secured at no ectra cost next room booking for a couple nights. Transportation is jelling up so......here's hoping to meet you fine folks in Sin City.
Real GI was not paying attention again.
It was a vague joke, I expected to have to explain it.
Real GNo, we use airplanes like everyone else. The canoe service ended years ago.
Now THAT was funny.
Greg,
Oh I see now! Ha ha, like since I was a wee lad, I was not paying attention again. No, we use airplanes like everyone else. The canoe service ended years ago.
Real GScuba gear? I thought it was a dry heat!
I meant the Hawaii to California leg, G.
You're right, the rest is dry. I've driven it a couple times myself. Assuming you are coming from LA, there is a neat 50's style retro diner called Peggy Sue's right off route 15, if you enjoy that sort of thing. I'm guessing yes, and according to Google, as a plus it is authentic, being reported as opening in 1954.
We stopped in on our last drive from Las Vegas to the O.C.
Greg Real G so I can just relax and nap in the back seat of the rental car. Yikes! Dont forget your scuba gear! But seriously, I hope the nats works out and you guys have a blast. Sounds like a great group and a great time.

Well, while someone's driving, with the AC on! I once ate a 1lb chocolate bar while lying down in the back seat while my friends drove from Alameda to Monterey Bay.

I am truely humbled by the invatation Real G and if I am able to make it then yes I would love to grace you with my "presence" WARNING. I can tend to be alot in life as I am on the forums.....kind of a note to the rest of the " hooligans" who may be attending said " swaray"
Real Gso I can just relax and nap in the back seat of the rental car.
armornut Working on it....if it does happen I'll be the quiet fat guy in the venders room.
Working on it....if it does happen I'll be the quiet fat guy in the venders room.
But we do need to be in your magnificent presence! So be sure to join up with us at our informal lunch/dinner/happy hour!
We need to agree on a day and time as the date draws nearer. Everybody stay safe and work on those kits!
I'm not exactly "The Thin Man" either, but I can be, um... not quiet.
Yeah, I'm super jazzed to meet up as well!
Oh boy G, it'll be good to meet you.
Oh what the heck, I pulled the trigger. The registration form and check are in the mail. I also sprung for a trophy sponsorship package. Look for "The East Oahu Radical Splinter Faction Group".
Now I'm committed.
Well, the registration is going live, so it looks like the 2021 Nats is a GO.
IF I get my shots, IF things don't blow up, IF I can get my act together, I'll see you guys in Vegas.
If you make it to Fremont, check if the Mob Museum at the end of the street is reopened. It's in the old post office and federal building. Fascinating tour, and they have a speakeasy in the basement with an operating bootleg moonshine production on-site. Smoothest moonshine I've ever had.
Oh yeah I'll be there! Got in on the last round of hotel rooms. My wife is going as well...to play the slots haha. Dinner sounds great. Hope to see you guys at some of the events as well
not sure if I'll bring anything on the plane. If i do it's gonna be the AH-1Z Viper
In the pattern: Scale Shipyard's 1/48 Balao Class Sub! leaning out the list...NOT! Ha, added to it again - Viper MkVii, 1/32 THUD & F-15J plus a weekend madness build!
Oh yeah Joe, it will be a blast. I'm thinking they won't be cancled but you never know. This will probably be my only chance. Once they go back to the east it's just too far and expensive to justify.
At this time I have every intention of going. Vegas is a 7 hr drive from me and I dang sure want to attend my first Nats. I was not able to attend the one's in Denver which wholly bummed me out.
I've spent a good amount of time in Vegas as we used to have season tickets to the NASCAR race there. One of the bonuses is the awesome buffets. Another fun thing to consider doing while there is take an evening on Fremont street. This is the old part of Vegas and is closed to traffic. There are all sorts of things to do and see and the hourly light show on the giant overhead awning is choice.
I am immensely excited to get the chance to meet some of you there.
