At 8pm every night, i`ve been getting x3. I`m using the same handle too. I was hoping that if there`s enough people playing from this forum, maybe starting an FSM clan. Getting tired of playing with strangers and losing...think I`m around 48% overall. And...haven`t spent a dime yet, although I may ask Santa for a premium account...Wink

Sorry, haven't tried that game.  Being more of a sci-fi fan, I've ended up spending my gaming time on Star Trek Online more than even WoW.

Haven't tried it... Not a fan of on-line games anymore, although I still love to fly campaigns in Red Baron 3D and Combat Flight Simulator II, and I'll occasionally pull out Panzer Elite...   Generally speaking, on-line gaming has taken it's toll on me, simply because there's no way to reach through the screen and just choke the living **** outta some of the kiddies who desperately deserve it...

I have to admit I'm a player of a couple of online games, WOW and World of Tanks. Got a Tiger and JagdPanther II. Problem I have on the Europe servers is the Eastern bloc guys not talking in English! and I'm sure some must have some hacks for their accuracy. I'm about 48% win rate too but I like the fact I can log on for 30 minutes and just blow some stuff up!

I hear ya Hans. I still play CFSII. The initial download for W.o.T.`s had to be done overnight...something like 4Gb`s of goodies, which makes me glad I got a new laptop. I also know what you mean about choking little bas****`s...especially the "Arty"drivers, who hide off to the side somewhere and lob shells at ya...Super Angry Whenever I`m driving my Pz III/IV, I`m an Arty hunter. I love the comments from those little weasles when I sneak up behind them and blow their a$$e$ away...lol.

We have a lot of Spanish speakers on the N.A. server, so I know what you mean. I`m sure there`s cheating going on but, I`m finding, as my crew`s training increases, the better the tanks accuracy gets, along with loading speed and actual vehicle speed. I have 5 tanks, two of which have 100% crews plus about 50% through their 1st set of perks...which also make everything better and faster. I have a VK3601H...almost sold it right after buying it...could not survive a battle in it...but with all the upgrades and crew improvement, I`ve not only been surviving alot more but have actually turn the tide on a few battles. My best game so far was in my Pz III/IV...8 kills, I was the only one left against 2 arty`s , a KV @ 25% and to med`s , 1@ 100% and the other 60%. When the battle ended..I had 5% HP left..lol...and none of my teammates hung around to see it, prolly thought I was a goner..lol.

The other thing is...the premium account. How can you compete against someone buying everything? They say the game is free, and is for the most part...you can play all you want and not spend a dime..but when an M6 heavy gets "one-shot-ed"...someone bought their shells. I know by having everyone competeing together, it`s a way to get more people frustrated and get them to start spending money, and let`s face it, making moneyoff the game is the real goal for the owners...IMO.

I would like to play it but the ***holes should make it mac friendly...
at least these thing don't break down every couple of months...

I read that they are making a world of planes version to...
Not mac friendly either...

Whatever, I still have my consoles, at least I don't have any issues there...

Sorry guys...didn`t know about the MAC thing. And, yes, there is a World of Planes on the way...I can only imagine how frustrating that`s gonna be...lol.  I played for a bit this afternoon, basically was mis-matched the entire time, playing against tanks 2-3 tiers higher than mine, and as you could guess, got my butt kicked 95% of the time. I swear I`m gonna quit every "bad" session but, I can`t...it`s like nerd crack...lol.

Len, as far as buying stuff for the game, just but more models.  Some of them have coupons for the game in them!  Seems like a win-win to me!  I haven't been playing this game.  The game that has sucked the time from me is DayZ.  It's a zombie survival game.  Definitely fun!

Played for awhile and got up to an M-10 but ended getting burnt out on the game. Same maps and players on your side who want to rush the enemy base leaving your team with half strength before the game even begins in earnest. May have to pick it up and start again, been too busy playing Skyrim through for the second time here lately.

I know what you meant, Thaught that you might be for real...
It wouldn't surpise me that there are guys on here not knowing what we mean with mac.
Also, they don't take a lot of space since the hardware and screen are stowed into one thing.

I'm not really an apple guy but I do love Imac's + I need one for school/my work...
I can put windows on here to and you can't put OSX on a windows, so that's kinda handy.

Gamera, the blackberry is kinda chewy, but eating is about all they are good for. Lol

FYI: you can get the happy meal with apple slices. So, you can have both if you like, and you get a toy!!

Yeah, that's where the name came from. The original name was Hi-Toro which kept being confused with the lawnmower!!!

Back in 1977 Commodore introduced the first home computer (well the first one that didn't come as a box of parts you had to build yourself) and they called it the Commodore PET - I kid you not after the pet rock fad. It was supposed to sound 'friendly'. Same with the Vic-20 - it was supposed to be a friendly name. Go figure.....

I have a tier 3 M2MT  elite, a tier 6 Sherman M4A3E2, also elite, a Tier6 M6, crew around 96% trained, A Pz III/IV tier 5, crew close to 100% and a VK3601H tier 6, crew around 90%. I`m losing alot lately, which gets me frustrated. I had an awesome battle with my Pz III/IV, my whole team was wiped out, 5 enemy...2 arty`s, a KV-1 that was around 50% and a few others. I was defending my base and fought `em all off and won. Had a total of 8 kills that game. Beat my old best with the M2, which was 7. I keep getting put into battles where I am the lowest tier vehicle. I don`t like camping so I get into the mix and die...pizzes me off sometimes, especially getting one-shot-ed by an invisi-tank or some punk-azz arty driver.....Super Angry

And yes, it keeps me away from the bench more too....which I will be sitting down at after I finish this post...Yes

...especially getting one-shot-ed by an invisi-tank or some punk-azz arty driver.....

As a former "real-world" Red Leg, I can attest that an HE Quick155mm WILL take out any WW2 tank.. The issue isn't destroying a tank with direct-fire.. It's hitting it with the first round.. It usually takes three on a moving target...  But when it's "steel-on-steel", the clanker's a goner.. Gimme an M40 or even an M12...

Also, if a tank wanders into a 155m (or even a 105mm Battery) Battery's AOF (Azimuth-of-Fire), he better be shooting at us from hull defilade first..  There are VERY few units that can match the organic fire-power of an Field Artillery Battery..  We've got the six howitzers plus a minimum of 12 .50 cals (to knock a tanks tracks off if he exposes them) for a mobilty kill.. Then the guns will eat the tank..

Is it possible for a person set up his own passworded server and run it by "Invitation" or "Members Only"?    Kinda like what some of us did when Sierra shut down it's "Red Baron 3D" servers..

A server would be set up, and only bona-fied members of recognized Squadrons and Staffels would have access on "Game Day"...

If that's the case, then I'd play probably.. But I don't care for "open to the public" servers (unless i just wanna blow stuff up for a hour or so)

Standard battles are set at 15 on each side.  In a room, you need at least one on each side, max 15 on each side.

I don't play in the rooms much, so i had forgotten that you don't earn experience there, so you can't progress through the game to get larger tanks.  So, Hans, if you don't want to play with the regular slobs, then you won't get much enjoyment from the game.

You can still platoon up with a couple of friends though, it makes random matches a bit more bearable. Playing company battles also nets you a good amount of experience and credits.

Too bad..  But if one could get enough interest in forming a few dedicated units, say, one Axis, one Allied, things could be fun.. Might take a while though..

Heh.. Guess what I'm looking for is a sim, ala "Panzer Elite"... Is WoT "arcade-style" or "Sim-Style".. I want a sim, where I'm using the joystick and keyboard, and I'm "inside" the tank, not looking at it from outside.. Any screen-shots?

Hey Hans....it took me a min but I was rolling around outside the tank, then I accidently scrolled my mouse wheel in....  Then I was inside the tank looking out.  I could even magnify the scope for the shot.  I was hit and the tank commander got knocked out....  lol   I lost a track  =[  and all kinds of crap went down.  After few minutes everything is repaired but only so much...its a field repair.  Gotta repair your tank in the garage,   upgrade it too.  You can upgrade anything.  Its a cross between a sim and arcade.  Leaning towards the sim when insde the tank.  I jumped my tank and broke a track  =[  Very addicting, and its nice the everyone is a real person, except your tank crew.  But they really talk, like when you lock on the gunner ask permission to fire or says that one too far away.

Ripcord: You start out on a newbie battlefield and shouldn't be facing anything much more powerful than your T1 plus the other players are rookies too so you're pretty evenly matched.

Hans: Yeah the game is mostly arcade. You drive the tank with your WASD keys and rotate the turret (if you have one) and look around with the mouse. Most of the time you'll be using the bird's eye third person view on your vehicle but you can zoom in using a gun's eye view- in fact it's the only way I can hit anything. As Ripcord said you get a pile of different tanks, tank destroyers, and SPGs available but you start out with a cheap light tank and have to gain experience and money to invest in research to buy better hardware (bigger engine, better gun, etc) and to eventually jump to a bigger more powerful AFV.

Their website is here. Click on Media for screenshots and videos.

The voice acting is good, but funny it's English with an American accent for everyone- even Soviet and German vehicles!

Maybe not your cup o' tea Hans but as the guys said- it's free to play, you only need to pay to get special premium tanks and equipment. So try it, play around with it, and if you don't like it delete it- the only thing you've lost is the time invested.

BTW: Sorry I haven't been on the game much, bad ISP problems, after Thanksgiving I need to call the cable company and see if they can straighten this mess out. TV is messing up too, other night it was so fuzzy on Mythbusters I couldn't tell Adam and Jamie apart! Hopefully will be back on the game soon- look for Gamera977 - all my vehicles are US Army or British.

Gamera

BTW: Sorry I haven't been on the game much, bad ISP problems, after Thanksgiving I need to call the cable company and see if they can straighten this mess out. TV is messing up too, other night it was so fuzzy on Mythbusters I couldn't tell Adam and Jamie apart! Hopefully will be back on the game soon- look for Gamera977 - all my vehicles are US Army or British.

Look for me too...guess what my name is......Big Smile

I play under the name Stryk9.  I love the low tier light tanks...even though I have all the big iron I still enjoy playing tier 1 and 2 tanks...it's just a whole bunch of fun.

My favorite tanks in the game are

#1)  M36 Slugger.  Decent Armor great gun for it's tier and I get really good match maker results with it.  60% win rate over 500 battles in this great TD.

#2)  IS3 another great tank with good balance of power and a decent gun

#4)  T-62A  A beast on the battlefield

How do we look eachother up on this game?

Tim, click on the Contacts button at the bottom of the garage screen.  Switch to the Find Contacts tab, and enter the name you want to search for.  Select the name you want, and click the Add Contact button at the bottom of the window.

Do you have a premium account?  I`ve been playing for quite a while now and I`m beginning to think I`m doing things the wrong way. Lots of guys have all the equipment and "gold" shells etc., I never have enough silver credits to buy much of anything. I currently have:

1: M6

2: M4A3E2

3: Churchhill I

4:T-50

5:VK3601

6: Pz III/IV

It`s taken me what seems like forever to get this far...think I`ve been at it since last March. It`s tough going up against guys that are "buying" their tanks and all the other stuff but understand why it`s that way...sure makes me want to get a premium account but $99 bucks???

Anyway....we definately should all list our WoT names and hook up to platoon or company battle...should be fun!

Len,

Yes I do have a premium account, but find that it only provides one real advantage and that is the 1.5x payout on credits and exp in battles.  Even with Premium it still takes forever to grind to the upper tiers.  I've never bought my way up by spending gold for credits or exp.

I have bought a few premium tanks which I play occasionally; however, the premium tanks aren't really very good compared to other tanks of the same tier.  They do make LOTS of credits though and that is the primary reason why I and others will play them.

I guess that`s part of my problem...need some "earners". I do have  a few good tanks in my garage but just can`t seem to survive many battles. My biggest pet peeve is the old "invisitank"...can`t stand getting nailed from someone that`s right there in close range and they`re unseen. I know all the tricks of camoflauge and have cammo nets on 2 tanks but sometimes it just seems ridiculous. They don`t "unmask" when they fire??? What the heck! I`m also convinced there is cheating going on....some guys are invincible...I can nail guys in vulnerable spots on their tanks, with my derp guns, and only take 3 or four hit points off??? They were actually talkin about it in a battle I was in and I watched a guy in an M4 get repeatedly nailed by multiple tanks and stayed at 100% HP. I just get frustrated with the game sometimes...but I love it anyway.

I've played almost 9000 battles now and have grown accustomed to the camo AKA "cloaking" mechanism.  There are a lot of variables that go into a tank's visibility factor and It can be frustrating at times.  I've never understood how the house/car/tree is fully visible but the King Tiger sitting next to it isn't.  I guess that's the part of the WOT that is more game and less sim.

I can't tell you the number of times that I've gotten an opposing tank down to less than 50 hp's and then repeated shots in the flank hit for no damage or bounce off.

Besides it's flaws, I still love it.  Hang in there it gets easier.

I've seen you on there troubelemaker66, I play as joeynobody.  Don't have a premium account, just makes upgrading slower -but the game is fun, so I don't mind.  have a IS-3, T-50, T34-85, and a AMX75 that I hate.  No Artys and SPGs though.

Just bought a SPG for the first time, interesting change of pace.

Guess I'm a bit of a jerk, the only things I'm good at are sniping with my hidden camoed cloaked tank destroyer and lobbing shells at range with my artillery. I pretty much suck at taking anyone on face-to-face and hand-to-hand in a fair fight...Embarrassed

Ooohhh.....one of those are ya...?...lol. I just sold my Pz III/IV for a Hummel. The only other SPG I had was the T-57...got a lot of kills with that one. I got away from the arty because you are extremely hated and sought after...and die fast if you have a crappy team....Dead  I think I only have 2 battles in the Hummel...got get my 2x as soon as I send this post....Big Smile

What is this cloaking device I keep hearing?  I only play allied, usually light tanks.  All I have ever seen is a camo net for 1 mil.  Nothing to research either.

just thought id ask, anyone else here using premium vehicles? I have a Ram- II.

Speaking of arty, i decided yesterday to head down the french line, just to change the usual pace of things...  already advanced tiers, and have the tier III fully upgraded.

To answer your question, ripcord, ill try my best... the "cloaking device" is not an add- on. It is merely a system that removes your vehicle from view if far away or behind cover. This turns off if you fire or move into the open. The camo net and camo pattern that can be applied to your tank merely reduces detection chance.

...and to add a little...some equipment that you can purchase can help you be a bit more stealthier, faster and tougher. The only thing I have is the cammo net on 2 of my tanks...one is the Hummel. They had a real good tutorial on the WoT site about cammo...one trick I learned is to stay about 30m back behind bushes, you won`t be seen for a while and you can hammer away on people, until they get close enough to spot you. You just have to kill them before they do...DeadBig Smile

The equipment can keep you "cloaked" for a few seconds longer and sometimes they have to get really close to spot ya. There`s also equipment that will help you detect a tank quicker and keep `em lit up a little longer than usual...not sure how long you stay visible once you fire your gun but I would bet it`s close to 10 seconds. Hope this helped...lol...

Yeah I use the term 'cloaked' jokingly for getting shot repeatedly by a tank that never shows up on the map or having an enemy you were shooting at seem to just blink out and vanish without having moved under cover. I still haven't watched the video on the mechanics of visibility yet but really need to. Eventually I just got tired of being drop-shotted by an opponent I never see and went out and bought a TD and put a camo net on her - if you can't beat 'em join 'em eh?

The term for that is "Invisitank"...gotta trip over him to see him. Some TD`s can see really far, especially if he bought the coated optics in the equipment section. SPG`s are very far-sighted too...nothin` like getting one-shot-ed from an invisitank or arty...scared my wife more than once when I screamed at my laptop....Super Angry

It`s a computer game...of course there`s hackers...they won`t want to make it obvious but getting killed killed by one shot by a tank 2 tiers below you, and rounds are bouncing off him (Godmode) is kinda obvious. It sucks for the people who just want to have fun and double for the serious guys that think this is real...lol. Just my opinion, can`t prove it but from past gaming experience, there`s always hackers.

It was quite fun, I'm jealous though, they both have far better tanks than I do...

Chromdome35 decided to show me a tier X battle in my Ram II, I have to say i've never felt so small, what was funny was i was the only tank left, i was too afraid to move out of cover!

Picture of me and Chromdome35 in our Marders (after Troublemaker66 left) Sad-

And three of my StuGIII (which should really be called a StuK III, because it has the 10.5 cm howitzer)-

If you want to feel even smaller, try it in a T-50....I don`t even bother firing my gun, just spot and run for my life...Dead It is fun pestering a big tank...their turrets turn slow and I do circles around him...just don`t get in front of the gun....keeps him "lit up" until "big brother" shows up...then I zip away and find a new tank to harass...quite fun...hate it when someone does it to me tho`.......Big Smile

Going to take me a while to get used to it. I did look a couple of months ago but it looked to confuseing. But not quite as bad as i thought.

Shame all the severs can't be integrated together, but they're struggling enough as it is. I don't think WG have upgraded them since open beta. Also, just in case anyone missed it, there is a code on the WoT EU website that gives you 1 day of Premium access, and 300,000 credits worth of consumables (that I sold straight away!).

Finally earned enough experience and money to buy a M18 Hellcat the other night. Wow, what a difference from my M10- it's like going from a dump truck to a sports car!

M18's a great TD, just don't let the speed get you into trouble! A lot of the time you see them charging off by themselves only to be killed one minute into the match Confused

Yeah, I use it like my M10 moving from cover to cover or hiding behind the heavies sniping at the enemy.  The greater speed and agility of the M18 allow me to spend less time in the open and vulnerable.

I've seen M18s rush the foe, gotta remember the vehicle is still a glass cannon- killer punch but paper thin armour.

Modeler#1: I've always liked the M36 Jackson but everyone told me to go with the Hellcat.

Looking forward to earning my 90mm gun!

Funny, I've seen people tying in Cyrillic/Russian on the US/Canada server. I just assumed they were Russians?

Finally earned enough experience and money to buy a M18 Hellcat the other night. Wow, what a difference from my M10- it's like going from a dump truck to a sports car!

M18's a great TD, just don't let the speed get you into trouble! A lot of the time you see them charging off by themselves only to be killed one minute into the match Confused

I dislike dying one minute into the match.  Sometimes when I do, I stay to watch the battle.  Few are very entertaining.

The premium account...man do the credits and xp fly in...but its to me no different then the free account.  I  still get mashed fairly easily.  I could buy gold rounds but man are they expensive so I refused to.

I was looking through the WoT site today and noticed they have a World of Warplanes in development. Couldn't find a release date though. Has anyone heard anything on this.

At this rate, i will never get any models done.

The also have World of Warships or battleships...   I got banned for thinking out loud so I kinda veered away.  The ban has been lifted but I like to sniff glue.

I got access to the Alpha build of World of Warplanes a few months ago. It seemed good enough, but my laptop wasn't capable of running it at a smooth FPS so I passed on it. I believe it is in Beta testing now, you can sign up for that if you want to try it out.

I see the Beta test thing, it says closed so i assume you had to be invited or something. I am in no rush and will wait until its release. Still getting to grips with WoT.

I saw the world of ships as well. But not sure about that one.

Yep...had the T-50 and it was fun for a while, then I got tired of getting one - shotted in tier IX battles. Went back and got the T-28, which is an awful tank for armor...heading for the KV`s.

About the holiday scheme, they did the same kinda thing during Halloween...I think it`s kinda cool, if you sit and listen to it for a while, you can hear people hootin` in the distance, like a party in the woods when we were kids...lol.

Good to see you guys having fun, last couple times I've played I've gotten so honked off I had to quit it to keep my blood pressure down...

Other night I whacked a light tank with my 76mm, the gunner yelled 'Penetration' but it didn't do any damage whatsoever at all. Then ended up getting hit and instant killed by one enemy shot, I know a Hellcat didn't have a great deal of armour but geeze louise. Plus I think they've changed the maps around, I used to find a good spot and snipe, now it seems I can hardly do that anymore, and an American TD can't go head to head in a slugging match.

Maybe I'll be back in a couple of weeks...

As I`m typing this, I`d just gotten off of the game because I was about throw my laptop out the window...Super Angry I`ve been experiencing the same kinda thing...got a guy dead to rights but do no damage...after several point blank shots...then get hit 2x and die...that`s in my TigerI!!! I haven`t won a battle yet with that tank and it`s the highest  tier I have. Also I`ve gotten hit 5x in rapid succession from the same tank...no reloading time between shots?? I think it was a French tank, but has happened in several battles while using different tanks. Sometimes I really believe there`s cheating going on.

...then there`s the Match Maker...I must`ve pizzed that thing off because I never enter a battle, with any of my tanks, as the highest tier tank. I`d say outta 10 battles , I`d come in at the middle or lower 8 battles. I`ve been losing more credits than earning. Now that I bought my Tiger, and burned up all my credits in doing so, I`m back to the grind. I mostly play from 7-9 pm , just to get my bonus XP. I`m with Cliff...getting ready to take a "leave of absence"..lol.

Lol. Sounds like they nerfed everything again...

Well, yesterday I bought (finally!) a Jagdpanzer IV. I'm kinda disappointed with it... it has sloped armor, but everything can pen it... grrr...Angry I need the upgraded suspension (which costs 4,100 XP) to mount anything better, so im essentially stuck with a stock vehicle. Right now im grinding out credits on my StuG III, so i can get better crew training and modules for the Jagdpanzer... so I dont have to grind it as much.

Going to take a long time before i get a Jagdpanther II...

The JagdPanzer IV is the turd of the German TD line I'm afraid. Even with the top gun, you'll find it hard to penetrate anything from the front  in your tier or higher. The rest of the line is great though, after the Jagdpanzer you get the fantastic Jagdpanther, then either the Ferdinand or Jagdpanther II. I brought the Ferdi today (was hoping it would be on sale, but wasn't Sad), and even in it's stock setup it's pretty good.

Gee, hate to see other people having problems but at least I know I'm not alone now! Sad

I'm also having some problems with my ISP just cutting out every now and then so I probably won't be on for a week or so. Bummer, I was hoping to earn enough XP to get my Hellcat a 90mm gun. Oh well...

Len, I'll probably be back in a week or two, depends on how things go.

I have noticed the same issues as you guys. A couple of time i got penetrations but it didn't seem to reduce the damage. And also a couple of times i have been taken out with one shot and having 100% health. I know on one occasion it was a Hetzer took me out, and i was in a Pz IIIA. But still i would have thought it would have taken more than one hit. Then yesterday i was hit twice in quick succession by the same tank. And it wasn't one with a cannon like the Pz II has. Theres deffinatly something going on.

Some of the low tier Brit tanks have an anti aircraft pom pom that can shoot 4 times in rapid succession.  One of those may have hit you.

The 0 damage penetrating hits do damage in a way; they knock out modules or kill crew members (e.g. kill  the driver, damage the gun ect.), although this damage isn't reflected in the tanks overall HP. And yeah, the Hetzer with the howitzer is pretty devastating, if it penetrates it can kill anything in it's tier or lower with a single shot. You can also get one-shotted by arty quite often, especially at lower tiers, which is always annoying Angry

Thaks Alex. Seems odd that you can do that sort of damage and it not reflect in the vehicles health. I sort of understood it with the Hetzer, and ye it did have the gun gun. But i am sure its happened with other vehicles. I must say i have taken out a vehicle that was 100% with one round from a wespe. Was rather pleased with that.

Heres another one i don't get. The otehr day i was hideing behind a building and got taken out by a round which went straight through said building. And just now i was on the Abbey map. I was in the square with buildings all around and got hit from behind. So i turned the turret and there was no one there. A second round took me out. I am sure some people are able to fire through buildings. Anyone else had this happen.

I know it wasn`t an AA gun killing my Tiger, which is a tier VII...unless a higher tier light tank has some sort of auto-cannon...still shouldn`t have been killed in 2 shots at 100% armor. Those lower tier 37mm cannons plink off of most higher tier armor.

exactly...invisitanks. One answer is the enemy player purchased the binocs and coated optics....can see way far away with that combo...was up against a French LT that had us spotted across the map and their arty lit us up. They could also have cammo nets and paint, which adds to their stealth. I have nets on 2 vehicles, don`t seem to help much tho`...lol.

I swore I was taken out from behind buildings before, but if one part of your tank is stickin` out from behind cover a sniper will pick you off.

You usually know who did you in either by the camera going to the offending tank or by a message at the bottom center of the screen telling you who killed you. A well hidden tank will not unmask itself at a distance even after firing their gun a few times but, eventually they`ll show themselves...usually after they`ve killed you....Super Angry

I once saw a situation once where there was just a French scout and an ISU-152 left on our team. The ISU parked up behind a bush, sent the scout off to spot targets, and killed the 3 remaining heavies on the enemy team, without being spotted once! Those Russian TD's are damned stealthy

oh and google the hit skin mod.  it removes any artwork on the tanks and replaces them with ..well look

Hitbox skins, zoom-out/in mods, freefly camera mods, tracer mods, agent orange mods, bots... in other words, lots of ways to annoy people in this game! I do not believe there an any actual "hacks" in this game though. I've been on the WoT forums for quite a while now, and every week or so someone will complain about being killed by a "hacker". Truth is, most of the time they've either just got ammo-racked, or been hit by two tanks at once

Interesting, I'd seen mods to paint your tank with 'My Little Pony' decals etc Indifferent but not these. I might have to give some of them a try, I keep trying to hit heavies in their vulnerable areas but I'm not very good at it.

I don' t think anyone is hacking the game but there are a lot of people out there way better than me, maybe they should open a server just for people like me that suck at FPSers. And there may be people with various installed equipment and camo that gives them an advantage, I don't blame them, you should get more if you pay for the game. My issue is that I used to run about a 50-60% win rate, here lately I've dropped down to about 20% or so. Could be my M18 is in a higher tier than my M10 and I'm facing better opponents- frankly I dunno...

Thanks Mike, will give it a try. Also going to try out some of other mods too.

Funny, I've downloaded a pile of mods for Skyrim, mostly to replace armour of the female characters in the game with chainmail bikinis...

Looking at the stats the Hellcat has frontal armour of 13mm as opposed to the 51mm on my old M10- that could explain a lot about me getting one-shotted...

Ok guys, I`m a little confused. I`m no computer wiz, just like playing the games. Where are these mods? The only mods I knew about were the ones in the game that you have to buy with credits or gold. Are these extra-caricular? If they are, it`s definately cheating. How do you change the reticul from game to server?? These things may be part of the reason why I`m gettin` my azz handed to me lately..lol.

Also noticing alot of "trolls" lately, starting nonsense in the beginning of games. Had a guy in a Pz38 harassing me in my Churchill I so much I had to kill him just to be able to get into the battle!! Of course, I`m the jerk...lol.

I have had something similar Len. I took up position on one side of some bushes, so i was in cover. And this guy in a russian TD came over and kept bumping me. Not sure if he thought that spot was reserved (i didn't see any signs). I came very close to putting a cap in his backside.

This is a good place to find mods -

http://www.curse.com/wot-mods/worldoftanks

I believe all the mods on there are legal, WoT seemingly endorsed the site by posting a link to it in a news article once. Some of them are a bit iffy though; there hasn't been a definitive yes or no as to whether zoom out mods and "agent-orange" mods, among others, are legal.

Yeah, mostly mods change only your game, aka they change the graphics and sound like painting your tank with 'My Little Pony' characters (shudder), change the pictures of your crew to pretty girls, alter the voices etc. They don't actually alter the game mechanics.

The changes to the interface seem a little more involved but they still don't make your tank drive faster, hit harder, take more damage etc, they just change the view and controls. So it really cheating anymore than buying a better mouse or a bigger monitor is cheating.

I've had the bumping thing happen too, don't get it, you're parked in some bushes and some guy on your own team just comes up and rams you over and over. Weird...

I installed these:

Damage Map Mod: Probably a better one out there- this one doesn't show all tanks.

Cute gals: Replaces the pictures of your crew with cute gals.

Over target markers: Better IDing of foes and damage remaining.

DAR Artillery Site: Helps to target using SPGs.

J1mbo's Crosshair Mod: Allows you to zoom waaaaaaay out and easier to site on foes.

Anyway those are just the ones I installed - I'm sure there are far better mods out there.

How to install:

On Win7 - I dunno about XP or Win8

Open Documents

Click on Local Disk C: on the left menu

Click Games

Click World_of_Tanks

Click res_mods

Click your latest version- should be the last one on the list - 0.8.2 right now

I drag and drop them so reduce the window to half size on the screen - hit the window button in the NE corner of the screen it's the middle one and reduce the window to half the screen on the right.

Open Documents again

Window it too- so you have both windows on the screen - this one half size on the left

Click downloads at the top of the left menu

Click the download from the list

Open the GUI file on downloads- find where it goes on the game files on the right and just drag and drop them.

Hey Cliff. Got to the part with the GUI files....didn`t see anything like that...I downloaded the J1mbo mod. Do you have to unzip it 1st? I`m pretty stupid when it comes to this kinda stuff. And, do I just drag it into the 8.2 folder? Sorry man...need to be walked thru....Dunce

If you've got an unzipper installed you should be able to click on the download to unzip. Then open the files and drag and drop.  I think you only need the ones under GUI.

Skippy: I'll try to remember to look you up, I game under the name Gamera977.

I stepped away from the game for about a month but got back into it about a week or so ago. Finally coughed up some cash for the game - I wish someone had told me about Premium tanks. My new Matilda Black Prince is a free xp and silver making machine!

Have you guys seen the new 8.4 update. I am just downloading it now and it says they have a Pz I. This should be interesting. Surely it doesn't start of with 2 MG's. And i am not really into British armour, but those TD's look interesting.

Bish: Haven't played any of the German stuff yet but I have been fooling around with the new Chinese tanks they recently added. Went though the Vickers light tank and the M3 Stuart (again 4th Stuart I've played) and just bought the PLA T-34. Still hanging on to the captured Japanese Type 97 Chi-Ha just for fun.

Also have a British Crusader and working toward a Cromwell, though it's the Comet I really want.

Haven`t gotten it at my locale yet but should soon. I`ve worked my way up to an IS 3....that and a Lowe are my highest tier tanks. I have the IS8 researched and I`m grinding away to get the coin to buy it...something like 3.3 million.....Tongue Tied

Hey Cliff! I`m not real thrilled with the Chinese line...have the Type T-34 and sometimes I like it....has a good gun but weak armor and speed.

I worked my butt off to get the Cromwell and I`m not really liking it right now. Seems like it`s alot tougher when you`re up against one than when driving one...lol. It has good speed and moves  great  but has weak, flat armor...whatever you do, keep moving when you`re in it or die....Dead

I want a Comet also but I currently have to grind my way up to a tier 9 so I can do clan wars. I can use my tier 8`s for now but don`t really stand much of a chance against tier 10 tanks.

I haven't bothered with the Chinese ones. I just assumed they would be the same as the Soviets ones.

I only revently got to Tier V with a Pz III/IV. Just getting some of my other lines to the same level before i go to VI. I wouldn't mind a Lowe though.

Well, I figured most players would go with the Soviet and German tech trees so I ended up going mostly with the American line- now I see lots of US tanks so I got into the British and Chinese lines just to be different!

Len: Thanks for the head's up! The real Cromwell was slightly faster but slightly less well armored than the M4 Sherman so I guess it fits. I've burnt enough time into the game now that I guess I might as well keep working toward it rather than starting over on the US, UK, or USSR medium tech trees. I went up the M7 US medium path instead of the M3 Lee/Grant- then they added the auto-loading US tanks and the M7 no longer leads to the M4 Sherman. And I've got the Matilda Black Prince to train the crew up with.

Please send me a screen shot of the IS-8 when you get it- sounds awesome!

Bish: You're right, the Chinese tanks are mostly Soviet ones with a few modest improvements here and there but fewer upgrade options. Not sure there's much point to going up that path unless like me you just want something different.

My highest vehicle is still my M18 Hellkitty. I think I'm spreading myself too thin:

US turreted tank destroyer line- M18

US SPG line- M37

US medium auto-loader line- M7 (still annoyed they changed the tree around, I was aiming for a Sherman)

US light line- M5 Stuart

UK medium line- Crusader

PLA medium line - Type T-34

Premium tank- UK medium - Matilda Black Prince

I have 23 tanks in my garage.....

1. M22 Locust

2. T2 medium

3. RamII

4. M4A3E2 Sherman Jumbo

5. T-20 Medium

6. M6 Heavy

7.T-29

8. M18 Hellcat

9. Cromwell

10. Black Prince

11. Leichttraktor

12. Luchs

13. T-25

14. Tiger I

15. Lowe

16. T-127

17. T-50

18. KV1S

19. IS

20. IS3

21. SU-26

22. SU-5

23. Type-T-34

....5 of them are premiums. The Lowe was given to me as a gift....$50 tank! Obviously, I`ve spent some money on the game because I wanted to compete in clan wars when they were at the lower tiers. Now they are back to tier 10 and I`m back to the grind. On the bright side, I`ve been building again while taking breaks from the game...lol.
