Both the MiG-15 and F-86 Sabre were based off German research. Not sure if it were this aircraft or not but there is a definite family resemblance.
This aircraft is indeed said to have been the inspiration for the MiG 15. Though of course the Soviets deny it. Not sure is the Sabre came from a specific aircraft or German research in general.
I am a Norfolk man and i glory in being so

Aaron Skinner Bish Tristar, RAF 216 Sqn. Mmm, pretty!
Nicer on the outside than they are on the inside.
Especially on a 9 hour flight to Calgery or an 18 hour one to the Falklands.
Sub, how did i guess that would be next lol.
DB 218 class locomotive I'll bet you didn't guess this one, Aaron.

Aaron, am i right in thinking you guys don't call it the Tristar. Is it still in service with civilian airlines.
Delta and ATA are the last North American carriers I know of to use the Tr-Star.
Other than freighters,that is.
Bish,
As far as I know, Tristar was Lockheed's name for the plane, in keeping with their astronomical naming scheme. I think it and the DC-10 are pretty much gone from passenger service. Sadly. Now, if I could just lay my hands on a few Otaki L1011s, I could die happy. Or maybe Zvezda will do a new one...
I didn't realise it was the companies name for it. As i understand it, its not going to be in RAF service much longer. I think its due to be replaced next year.

USS Barb SS-220 Lead in total tonnage sunk according to Japanese records:
Its supposed to be replaced by the Airbus A330. According to the RAF's site, they are being upgraded with comms equipment. It wouldn't surprise me if there service was extended.
